Strikers 1945 1 coming to Switch

Post by steveovig »

Strikers 1 is making a phantom release tomorrow in NA for $7.99. No idea if it has extra features or not. Gunbarich will also probably be coming but I'm not sure if it's tomorrow. Strikers 2 was my all-time favorite shooter at one point in my life and I never really got around to playing this one too much but that changes tomorrow. Maybe there is hope that other Psikyo games are coming too.

The publisher's Japanese announcement trailer implies that there will be more Psikyo games coming, too.

Seems very bare-bones, but hey, for that price it's hard to get too upset, as long as it performs well. Hopefully there's no lag or anything like that. Looks like it has TATE, at least!

This is the part that got my attention; would this be the first time this one has been (legally) available outside of owning the PCB?

I've seen some people saying that there's pretty bad lag, and you can't rebind the controls. Haven't tried it myself, but...

I'm still buying it to try it out tomorrow. Don't ruin my Switch high!

This is tangential at best but I bought Strikers 1945 Plus (which was also PSP port via PSN) for PSTV and regretted it. I may need to re-examine it but the input lag was huge (used a DS4) and the graphics managed to look like a flash game.

You'd hope this would somehow end up better.

I am OK with this. Here's to hoping others in the franchise make an appearance as well.

Looks like the Switch is going to be the home of a lot of my ACA purchases.

Gunbarich is also coming out today.

Hope this means Dragon Blaze , Strikers 1999 , and Gunbird get ports as well.

Gunbarich coming out makes me incredibly happy. I bought it at 1am this morning because I was so excited about it. Strikers hadn't come up in the eShop yet.

I'll be interested to hear about how different the lag for these Psikyo games is between the Switch being attached to an external monitor or running on its own screen.

OK, bought this off the US eShop just to know. There's definitely input lag, but it doesn't seem as bad as I anticipated. Not sure how it compares to MAME.

You can't remap the controls at all, but there is an autofire button. There is tate (right-rotate only). There is a scanline filter that's not terrible. No other features at all.

I don't have much experience with this game, but other than the lag, I didn't really notice any glaring problems. Framerate, sound, and all that seemed fine from what I could tell, but maybe people who know the game better might notice something I didn't.

Psykio revival!

Most excited I've been in a long time, I'm glad these games are getting their due.

Who owns the rights to Psykios library?

X-Nauts did previously. Then PM Studios was licensing their properties. I assume now ZeroDiv owns the rights.

I contacted them and they said they are looking into porting more Psikyo games to the Switch.

With the Gunbarich never being released before the chances are high it may come out. Would be nice.

I hope this pic isn't too gigantic but here is my scores so far on Normal, default. I've been kinda going back and forth between difficulty 1 and 5, and I'm having a lot of fun. I did manage to get to 1-8 on 1, if that is any type of accomplishment. I eagerly anticipate more Psikyo games on the Switch.

@Tokyo-j: can you contact them and ask if they can fix the input lag? The aca games have really tight controls so it must be the software rather than the hardware.

Does this version has TATE option?

Maybe hardware related due to bluetooth controls?

Yes it has TATE

The input lag is no worse then the ACA Neo Geo Titles. I may be wrong though.

Well I've got a few aca games and was surprised by how sloppy strikers' controls are in comparison

That's unfortunate. Psikyo games are some of the last where you'd want lag.

In some cases, Bluetooth controls actually have less lag. I'm not sure if it's the case with the switch, but it's certainly the case with the Dual Shock 4. I read some posts on the shoryuken forums and checked the amout of lag with wired and Bluetooth in DS4Windows and it has less lag using Bluetooth than when plugged in. DS4 has very little input lag when wireless.

This happens with the Switch Pro Controller. Wired has more lag than wireless.

How does TATE work when Switch not plugged on TV ?
Is it possible to use the pro controller when not plugged on TV, and just set the Switch screen on my table ?

I'm pretty sure you can do that. You'd just need to figure out some way to stand it upright.

You can use the joycons also. I just prop it against something or lay it flat.
