loewe calida 2323 TV. any good?

Post by soviet conscript »

I have a possible opportunity to grab a Loewe Calida 2323 TV. There's virtually no info on this set though. can anyone tell me the screen size and weight? In the sellers images I see a VGA port on the back. I'm guessing that's a good indication it can do 480P?

480p should be easy, as far as I know most Loewe's don't upscale. so 240p/480i should also work fine. (I know some of them had a deinterlacing option on the remote). might also be capable of old school line doubling. (some HDTVs had that as an option)

thanks, I couldn't find anything on it.

I was kind of hoping it was an EDTV. Never had much luck with CRT HD sets. They either died on me shortly after acquiring them or retro consoles look sub par and blocky.

the loewe's always seemed like giant vga monitors to me, so with a little tweaking they should be good with most content. but i've never seen one in person. youtuber RGB Rob has a few videos on different loewe models. they seem to look good with his RGB game content but it's hard to say. I always bring A Wii with composite, s-video and component cables and the 240p test so I can see what a screen looks like with different connections and resolutions (240p, 480i and 480p). if you can I'd test it out (if thats ok with the seller).

from what this user says, the Loewe Calida 5072 produces scanlines with 240p content. (http://www.tehkella.net/retro/?p=309)
