I've split my original post as the PSU problem has now been fixed. I now have a video issue instead! It would seem none of the video inputs seem to be reaching the tube, however it does *something*.
If anyone has any experience in tracking down these sorts of problems on the BVM, please do chime in. I'm totally clueless to these monitors.
The original PSU problem was that a diode had died and shorted in the smoothing section of the -150v causing it to not get much lower than about -8v at the ouput. After replacing the blown diode, the monitor now powers up. I'm not sure if there's anything the failing -150v rail can have buggered, or if this problem is unrelated.
I have a 2010p and I managed to fix all my issues by recapping the controller board. The caps on this are almost certainly bad and leaking at this point. The board can be found underneath the metal panel of the slide out tray. It will have many other boards plugged in to it. It's a pretty easy job that took a few hours. All the caps are surface mount. What I will say is that it is worth doing. The geometry on my 2010p is better than any 20f I have ever owned and I have been through many

Thanks for the pointer -- the control board drawer was locked until yesterday. Had to jimmy it with a screwdriver as I dont have a key! I've not investigated that board yet. I've traced things a bit further on the video side and see some signals which look like video data appearing at the input to the video amp, but not coming out the other end. So there's either something up with the video amp, or the input signals, as there are 3 signals going into the amp. One looks reasonable (the video data), the other two I really don't know yet, so I'm suspect of both.
