But running something higher than 5v through the 7805 when you know the power source is perfectly stable enough for consoles is just a good way of destroying efficiency for no good reason (not to say that linear PSUs going through a 7805 are any more efficient).Unseen wrote:You can request more than 5V with USB-PDsyboxez wrote:Would you not run into a problem with feeding 5v directly when the 7805 is still hooked up internally?
I was thinking that the original PSU could still be used and the 5v provided would simply be for PAL TVs that require it through their SCART connectors. You could remove the 7805 and feed 5v directly through USB-C, but then you would have a problem of having a cable that needs both power and video traveling through it (or a breakout box to handle it), which just seems like a mess, hence the 5200 reference.
And the biggest problem (again) is the goal of having direct wiring that is cheap and easy for any modder to do. I'm open to the idea of using USB-C for power and video, but I don't want to have to introduce external electronics, as I'm trying to keep costs as low as humanly possible.
