Mimo Genius II question

Post by slai50 »

I'm contemplating the purchase of a Mimo Genius II primarily to downscan arcade games like the psikyo shooting collection and Cave games on the PS2. I have a extron crosspoint 300 matrix switch and a BVM-20F1U that I would like incorporated into my setup. What is the best way to connect everything? I was planning on using RGB in, RGB out or VGA in ,VGA out on the Genius II. Is it possible to use the Genius II's RGB input and then output in VGA? Any advice regarding cables and connectors would be greatly appreciated. Also the online manual for the genius II mentions an optional signal cable that you can purchase, anyone knows what this cable is?

If you can source the proper connectors for the 6-pin RGB input and output you can use these. You can input and output through the HD15 ports as well, which I found to be much easier. Using a crosspoint you can simply loop the GII into an input/output combination using BNC to VGA cables.

You know that in order to convert those PS2 titles to 240p, you have to run them through a line doubler first, right ? On the GII you need a 31khz input to get a 15khz output.

Those are meant to be used in arcade cabinets (RGB signals above 2Vpp). The connector type and pinout are the same as those used by Italian arcade monitors.

I assumed so. I built myself an adapter for these, but it wasn't easy to source the connector.

It's very common. Manufacturer's part numbers are 280592 for the 6-way housing and 182198-1 for the crimp contacts. Available from all the big distros like rs-components, farnell, digikey, etc.

In PS2 don't work the same way as original Xbox, but i have my xbox connected to the MIMO Genius II: Xbox component cable --» component to VGA transcoder (StarTech.com CPNT2VGAA Component to VGA Video Converter with Audio) --» Mimo Genius II, and the booting xbox logo shows ok With scanlines and signal input says 640x240 (but in fact is 640x480 interlaced). The games like metal slug 3 that don't work in 480p, it recognizes the same and show scanlines again.

PS2 the booting menu don't show image, i have to connect the Green cable to the composite input in the MIMO to see what is happening, but the games boot fine in 480i showing in the mimo as 640x240 again, and showing scanlines, but i can see a little flicker, the image is not stable as the 480p input.

Does anyone with a Mimo Genius 2 know if it would work with one of Extron's 12V DC power supplies?

Like one of these: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Extron-HK-A5122 ... 1438.l2649.

I'd prefer to avoid having to make my own. :P
