Can the forum setting be changed so links open in new tabs?
Everytime I open a link in this forum it overlaps the forum tab. I then finish with the link and click close on it to find my forum tab is not there. Because I just closed it.
It would be nice if like alot of other forums it opened links in a new tab. So when you close it your back to the forum.
I know this is a petty request but i've closed the forum so many times I just thought i'd ask.
Thanks.

I thought everybody just held down Command as they clicked which automatically opens any link you click on in a new tab in a browser like Google Chrome (and well, in any browser I've ever used). I'm on a Mac so it might be ALT or something on a PC...

This really should be handled by your web browser, not this forum enforcing it on all its users. Firefox's Tab Mix Plus and Chrome's Tab Position Options addons both allow you to load external links in new tabs by default.
A simple way on most decent PCs is pressing the scroll wheel / third mouse button.Dochartaigh wrote:I thought everybody just held down Command as they clicked which automatically opens any link you click on in a new tab in a browser like Google Chrome (and well, in any browser I've ever used). Also if you want to do it on a per site basis without having to bother web admins:
1: Install a userscript manager:
https://tampermonkey.net/
2: Install this script:
http://userscripts-mirror.org/scripts/show/176509
3: Edit user includes for the installed script to include the site you want (for example: *shmups.system11*).

Thanks I'll try to remember to right click the link then.
This is the only forum I go to where I have to do that though. So....

Uh, I gave you solutions for enforcing the behavior you want on a global basis and on a per site basis.
It'll take you a few minutes to set up. Same as it would take the web admin (and every subsequent web admin you would ask) to setup this feature. So.....

I'm happier to right click than install things I don't understand. It wasn't in any way stating I was ignoring you. I just like simplicity. Since every other site launches a new tab for links that I use, this is the only one that doesn't. So for that reason I will right click the link. Its not a big deal really. It was a request based on my presumption it was easy for the admins to do. I'm still a happy camper.
