H Size for kv-9pt20

Post by vol.2 »

hi, i'm working on my little sony kv-9pt20, and there doesn't appear to be an h size adjustment. In the service manual, it says to set the H size before doing convergence here: https://www.manualslib.com/manual/97749 ... =11#manual

But, as you can see, there is no H size pot:
https://www.manualslib.com/manual/97749 ... =16#manual

So, is there some other way to set h size?

It's probably an inductor with an adjustable ferrite core connected in series with the deflection yoke. You're supposed to use a special non-conductive allen key to adjust it with the power on. A normal allen key works too, it just has an effect on the inductor while it's inserted.

Just be careful in that area. There are several hundred volts going trhough that coil.

Thanks MKL. I'm super careful. :)

Soooo, update on this is that the coil changes the corners of the screen, but it does not seem to shrink the whole size of the screen. It's a little annoying because i can't seem to shrink the screen enough to fit a whole 16:9 image on it, even with my extron VSC 700. it gets, meh, close, sort of.

What i'm doing is turning the allen screw inside the coil with my plastic adjusting tools. I believe in my PVM service manual it adjusts what is described as PINAMP or PINPHASE

Anybody know of a way i can shrink the horizontal size of the image? Is it possible that the allen screw is not the only adjustment on the coil? is the whole coil itself meant to turn?

Is it possible to adjust the screen size by altering the rings around the gun? (the convergence needs to be redone anyways)
