NEC XM/XP series working with Nintendo Switch

I got my Switch to run on my Sony FW900 trouble free and with good results overall. But when I tried getting it hooked up to my NEC XP37 I have no success. Using the same VGA to HDMI adapter I bought from frys, I can get the Switch to show up in the menu but when it starts to run games, it just blacks out. Messing around on the Switch settings doesn't leave me with many options either. For resolution all I get is Automatic, 480p and for RGB I get Automatic, Full, Limited. When I pick 480p the Switch reverts back to automatic making Automatic my only real option.

Since the Switch has a 480p mode, this monitor should be at least able to run that. But since it's not an option for me now, I'm not sure what to look for next. My first initial reactions is to get a better VGA to HDMI adapter like an HDFury but, that could also end up not working.

Once the game has started, try undocking for a few seconds and then redock the switch to have it resync

Just tried doing that with no luck. I did also tried changing the resolution in handheld mode to see if I can dock the system like that and I get the same result. It will work in menu but cant run the game. Resolution changes to 480p but still get the blanking out.
