I'm trying to simplify my hook ups and need someone to double-check my thinking--running everything through a gscartsw, feeding SCART out to an OSSC and the DB15 out to either a PVM-14L5 or PVM-2530.
I've clearly muddled my understanding of YPbPr vs RGBS vs RGsB etc, and am confused about what SCART can and can't carry.
I think the OSSC can accept 480p over SCART, but does anything actually generate 480p over SCART?
SNES, Genesis, Saturn, AnalogNTmini
Don't anticipate any problems with buying SCART cables for them...
PS2
I've learned running the PS2 with SoG RGB via SCART will require I use either port 8 (or a transcoder like the GARO in any other another port)
Wii
I have an NTSC Wii, but it seems I can change the region to PAL via MODMii to utilize SCART. Then force my games either via USBLoader or Retroarch to utilize PAL60? Any hiccups to watch for?
Wii U
Is 240p locked out of the Wii U via SCART like it is for YPbPr? Might just skip it...
Xbox360
Thinking of picking up a SCART cable to run 240p XBOX arcade games. Problems?
Thanks. It will likely take months for the SCART cables to arrive. Would like to have my ducks in order before ordering...
(looking forward to ending the nightmare of multiple processors, extron switchers, sync converters and the resulting octopuses garden behind my gear...)

Nothing generates 480p over scart natively, but can be done on PS2 RGsB I think...?
For Dreamcast and Gamecube you can use Garo and Toro to get 480p over scart though

Re: Ramming everything through a gscartsw
the 360 can only output in 480i through Scart.Xbox360

Re: Ramming everything through a gscartsw
So as long as I use a device to convert either YPbPr or 31khz RGBHV to RGBS, then I can run it through the gscartsw and the OSSC will accept it? On the display side, I don't think my PVM-2530 will do 31khz, but the PVM-14L5 should...PascalP wrote:Nothing generates 480p over scart natively, but can be done on PS2 RGsB I think...?

Would 360 --->VGA--->emotia (fake 240p)--->gscartsw work do you think? Have to wire me some cables to make that jump...Fudoh wrote:the 360 can only output in 480i through Scart.Xbox360

Correct, I run the Dreamcast and Gamecube through the gscartsw myself with 480p.HDgaming42 wrote:So as long as I use a device to convert either YPbPr or 31khz RGBHV to RGBS, then I can run it through the gscartsw and the OSSC will accept it? OSSC can even take higher resolution over scart then 480p.
I'm positive your 2530 is 15kHz only

Re: Ramming everything through a gscartsw
Are you using a GARO, Extron Rxi, or something else to accomplish this? Are you happy with the result(s)?PascalP wrote:Correct, I run the Dreamcast and Gamecube through the gscartsw myself with 480p.HDgaming42 wrote:So as long as I use a device to convert either YPbPr or 31khz RGBHV to RGBS, then I can run it through the gscartsw and the OSSC will accept it? Pascal- but you still need those expensive component cables for gamecube, correct? May as well just wait for the upcoming solutions instead?

I use a TORO for my Dreamcast and a GARO for the GameCube, in combination with the original component cables.HDgaming42 wrote:

Correct, I already had them before GCvideo was announced.tjstogy wrote:Pascal- but you still need those expensive component cables for gamecube, correct? May as well just wait for the upcoming solutions instead?

If I had to start now, I would get a GCvideo analog with a Wii Scart cable for 480p

sure, that works fine.Would 360 --->VGA--->emotia (fake 240p)--->gscartsw work do you think?
