I was just talking to a friend of mine a few months ago shortly before she died about old Chuck, said that man is going to live forever (as well as Little Richard and Fats Domino). Then talked with another friend last week about him, saying again he'll live forever. The man may not, but his music will definitely live on forever.

I'm sure I am not alone in that I was surprised to learn that he had still been alive when his death was announced. It feels a lot less unfair at this point (unlike eg. Bowie who passed away far too early, making it a huge loss for the world).

How pleasantly ironic that the father of "rockn n roll" got to live to almost a hundred, may he rest in piece.

The antithesis to P.C. and all things humourless. The cherry on top being, that when Don destroyed you with a put-down it meant he loved you. Funny guy and all round mensch .

John Clarke

I cannot tell you how much of a loss this is to me. John was a very, very funny comedian. His dead-pan execution was near flawless. It is no age for him to die at 68 but just thinking about his sketches makes me laugh.

https://www.theguardian.com/media/2017/ ... es-aged-68

He will be sorely missed.

Holy Shit!

Charlie Murphy, brother of Eddie Murphy, just died of Leukemia at 57.
Two working class dudes, one black one white, just baked a tray of ten cookies together.

An oligarch walks in and grabs nine cookies for himself.

Then he says to the white dude "Watch out for that black dude, he wants a piece of your cookie!"

Clifton James, 96. AKA best thing in the Roger Moore films. Blimey, didn't know he was still around... sounds like he had a good run.

edit: oh, and Aaron Hernandez hanged himself in prison. Decidedly less of a good run.

Yeah, sucks... I've been thoroughly enjoying many of Allan's albums over the years. I think Sixteen Men of Tain is probably my favourite one if I had to pick just one but many of them are fantastic. Truly a pioneer and like you said, very influential guitarist. Perhaps his guitar will finally sound just like a saxophone in the after-life since that seemed to be his greatest wish. Jokes aside, he will surely be missed.

... Michael Parks is dead at 77. One of the greatest character actors of all time - just finished watching Season 2 of Twin Peaks. He was great in everything.

Michael Parks... I remember him mostly from Death Wish V: The Face of Death. He was the main antagonist, Tommy O'Shea.

Quite personal for us this one as Powers Boothe was my father's drama student when he was running workshops in the US. He'll be sad to hear he passed away at such a young age. :(

A good actor, I'll always remember him for Southern Comfort, which is surely the best thing he ever did.
