Run MAME in the highest resolution you can and take a screencap with something like FRAPS.

If anyone knows how to convert it to vector using something free like InkScape, I'd love to know.

Actually; Doesn't Inkscape have a "trace bitmap" function, or something like that? It's not perfect, but, it could certainly speed the process along--One would need only to clean the image up (for contrast) in an image editing program beforehand for positive results (or a rather interesting artistic representation of the original, otherwise).

I was trying to make a G.rev logo a while ago, to make Senko no Ronde flyers, for fun. 8)

I saw that other topic, but it's to bad quality on thos pics. It's going to be used for printing on t-shirt så I need it vector based.
I have written a mail to Cave about the logo, but I have not got an awnser. DAMN Japs...

We already made SNK t-shirts:

I could trace it in Illustrator for you. I'm pretty detail oriented and efficient in Ill., so it shouldn't be too much of a problem. Just point me to the exact logo you want.

Hey! It's not racist! He's just a dumb Swede, he doesn't know any better.

Swedes never used the term "Japs" anyway so it's unreasonable to blame him. I'd blame the Americans for making the easiest abbreviated form of "Japanese" into an insult for the English language. Calling them "Nips" wouldn't work very well either...

Before this goes any further, every site and company that deals with Japanese games, or in any way refers to them is automatically racist, including those operated by Japanese people, since the fucking REGION CODE for Japan is JAP in practically EVERY GAME EVER FUCKING MADE.

Please, shut the fuck up about the jap shit and go back on topic. Thank you.

PS: Next person to try to turn this into a dumbass "Durh... it wuz duh Merrry-kans fault!" gets their nuts ripped off.

Hey, it's one thing for someone on here to say, "I just bought me a Jap Saturn. I'm gonna get me some Jap import games to play on my Jap Saturn, duhr-hyup." That's stupid enough, but I look the other way most of the time on this since this isn't really intended as a slur; it's used as an abbreviation (although a stupid one at that... I most often see it as JPN). But it's entirely different to say "damn Japs." The term "Jap" has always been a derrogatory term. I'm certainly not politically correct, but I do put my foot down on outright racist remarks like that.

I don't buy this "Swedes don't know any better." Maybe during the Swedish fish creaming festivals, it is customary to tie Japanese people to totem polls while the citizens dress up as cats and throw pickles at them. But this is an international forum, and considering the very nature of this board and its dedication to Japanese gaming, and if it weren't for those "damn Japs" working at Cave, there wouldn't be any Mushihime-sama or Espgaluda.

On top of this, it's stupid to presume that Cave would be helpful in this matter. What they're doing with these T-shirts is technically an infringement on their trademark. Cave won't be getting any money from the sales of your shirts. Personally I don't mind, and I think the shirts would look cool. But you can't expect any company, regardless of their nationality, to comply with such requests. It's even worse to insult them when they don't.

Okay, my rant is over. I just think it's stupid how nobody would ever think to use derrogatory racist slurs against other minority groups, but everyone looks the other way when Asians are targeted.

Damn Swedes...

for the record, in france jap is the standard abbreviation for japanese versions and has no racist connotations, so maybe it's the same in other european countries.
also it was probably meant as a joke, i say damn americans or damn belgians or whatever all the time.

Wow... I did not meen it as an insult in any way. I dident even know that japs was a bad thing to say. Here in Sweden it's like chtimi said, we use the shortining Japs for Japanes. It's like you could call me Swed. In my ears DAMN is not a "hard" word. DAMN is like Darn or Oh my, like old ladys would say.

I dont know what country you are from Greg, but I guess US. You people are more racist than you probably know. As an outsider I cant belive my ears when I see US TV and all I hear is white/black. It's all people you know, no matter what the color of your skin is. Why are you dividing people in to groups? I also hear alot of Afro-American, is he not an American? Hes an Afro-American? It's like saying Page-American about white people. Not all white dudes have page, not all black people have afro!

That is racistic if you ask me.

And in one sentence you completely miss the entire fucking point, rendering anything else you have to say completely useless. Thanks for saving me some time! :D
GeekJoan wrote: It's all people you know, no matter what the color of your skin is.
And I agree but American history DOESN'T agree. You have to remember that this is a country where less than 200 years ago it was legal to own another person. European countries have much longer histories so most of the old feuds have died out, but this country is still incredibly young and things like that don't disappear overnight. For modern day blacks in America, their blackness (for lack of a better term) is a point of pride where once it was a point of derision ("Say it loud, I'm black and I'm proud"). It's not racist to divide people into groups, it IS racist to divide people into groups then treat them like shit because of it.

BTW, despite the nick I am neither black nor female.

You know what? Be my guest.

I won't front. I just tried to trace that logo and it came out kind of crap. It has curves at almost every point and it's kind of tough to get a good tracing from the small pixelated images on the net. Good luck with that. I'll screw around with it in the meantime and see if I can come up with a good render of it before you do. :D Need to break out the guides or something...

cause y'all are annoying me, i decided to do it myself. then while looking for a decent template to do it off of, i found out cave already had a vector version on their own site:
http://www.cave.co.jp/imgs/idx_topimg_new.swf

while loading it shows the cave logo as a background placeholder. right click, hit rewind, and zoom into the cave logo all you want. screen cap it then color with photoshop to whatever you want (such as red and green as seen in your example), like this:

there. i hate you all.

if i could crack the protection on the flash i could just extract the vector. otherwise just zoom in more and make a big ass raster image. any particular dpi/size you looking for? slight problem with the curved edges not being smooth on their vector though, could probably be edited without too much trouble. and if you really want/need a vector version it shouldnt be too hard to do for anyone now.
