Re: Recommended Anime/Manga?
Watched Wicked City from my boy Kawajiri. I liked it!
The twists are great. And so is the setting.
And as usual with his stuff, the atmosphere is awesome.
Please be aware though, that once again, Kawajiri is feeling "rapey-rapey" here. So if you're offended by that kinda stuff then avoid this one.
Started Demon City Shinjuku but after 10 mins I turned it off. Nothing captured my imagination during those 10 mins, and I just had a feeling that this wasn't gonna be a good movie worth my time. Maybe I'll give it another go sometimes.

Ghost in the Shell: The New Movie (2015)
Good shit, you'll get your GitS fix. Watch it after Arise of course.
I't's just sad that it might be the last real GitS stuff we'll see in a while, if not the last ever.

Records Of Lodoss Wars :
Ended up really liking it! The main villain's motive is great! One of the series' highlights for me. I also very much like how the party meets
it's cool. And come on, you can't go wrong with a series that starts right in the middle of the action with a classic D&D party. Let's be real here...
Good, poignant musical score too!
Definitely recommend this to fans of action adventure anime and tabletop medieval games alike!

Already into the 3rd season of Yuru Yuri. I remember reading someone's reply here that they couldn't make it past the second episode. It's plain jane slice of life, but there's enough humorous bits to keep me watching till I reach the end soon.

Anyone watching Atom The Beginning? It's a prequel to the Astro Boy stories, with Dr. Ochanomizu and Dr. Tenma in college building a robot with a "heart". Tenma suffers from terrible 8th grade syndrome, not unlike Okabe Rintaro from Steins Gate.

I was planning to, but figured it might be better to understand any possible references by reading the original manga first, though I hear Tezuka considered the 1980 anime the 'definitive' Astro Boy story.soprano1 wrote:Anyone watching Atom The Beginning? Hidamari Sketch, has funny bits, but moves very slowly, despite the fact each episode jumps ahead long periods of time.

Re: Recommended Anime/Manga?
The manga so far is not very good honestly, it's not even clear if it's trying to really build a main plot or just start several smaller in parallel.Durandal wrote:I was planning to, but figured it might be better to understand any possible references by reading the original manga first, though I hear Tezuka considered the 1980 anime the 'definitive' Astro Boy story.soprano1 wrote:Anyone watching Atom The Beginning? And the anime feels a bit cheap technically speaking for carrying such a big name, also Tenma is way more excentric a character in than he is in the manga, dunno what happened there.

Re: Recommended Anime/Manga?
I'm one of those dumbfucks who watched Sin: Nanatsu no Taizai with the expectations that I'd be watching Nanatsu no Taizai. Instead I got 40 seconds of good fanservice to crappy battles and dialogue for the rest of the episode. Ecchi shows lose their main draw if you realize that the internet has limitless amount of ecchi material without having to suffer through crappy plotlines. 'Seven Sins' is a redundant subtitle when all the manifestations of the sins in question are Lust, Lust, Lust, Lust, Lust, Lust, and Lust.
The manga is indeed rather confusing to me, I'm reading the Dark Horse release which unfortunately flips everything to left-to-right for Kwanzanian readers, and I'm not sure if the original Japanese volumes were this disjointed in terms of starting plotlines. I feel like I should just go watch the 1980 anime instead.Xyga wrote:The manga so far is not very good honestly, it's not even clear if it's trying to really build a main plot or just start several smaller in parallel.Durandal wrote:I was planning to, but figured it might be better to understand any possible references by reading the original manga first, though I hear Tezuka considered the 1980 anime the 'definitive' Astro Boy story.soprano1 wrote:Anyone watching Atom The Beginning? What the fuck is going on between you too. Did I miss something? Were posts deleted. Two forum members I respect going at eachothers throats for seemingly no reason.
Chum, I've really enjoyed your posts in the past. Pls don't get yourself banned. The mods here tend to strike swiftly but not entirely predictably.

The Political Revolution thread is practically an engine of people who hate each other's guts as we go through this turbulent transitional phase, and hardly anyone ever gets banned there.

Two working class dudes, one black one white, just baked a tray of ten cookies together.
An oligarch walks in and grabs nine cookies for himself.
Then he says to the white dude "Watch out for that black dude, he wants a piece of your cookie!"

I can give u plenty of reasons to ban me and I really wouldn't give two shits although you never know maybe i'd regret it in the future. the farm sucks as it stands I only feel like making halfway decent input once in a blue moon. i've gotten banned everywhere else already pretty much. believe it.

Speaking of ninja anime, be sure to check out Juubei Ninpuuchou predecessor Sengoku Kitan Youtouden. I'm almost certain there isn't anything much better than these two.

Re: Recommended Anime/Manga?
what is going on here
Today, I found out that Keiichi Arawi started doing another manga called CITY now that Nichijou is finished.
As far as I can tell, only one chapter's been done, and it was October of last year.
Seems like another fun manga like Nichijou with a similar tone, but now following the goofy adventures of a broke young woman.

That looks fucking dope! Didn't know about that one. From what I understand: what I linked is a OVA movie? and I also see some stuff with a similar title but with multiple parts on Youtube. Is there a series as well?
EDIT : just found out that it's a 3 part OVA and that there was also a movie version, compiling those 3 OVAs but cutting 45 minutes runtime

Same opinion here, dropped the manga a few chaps ago, and I'm only watching the anime cause friggin' Noriyuki Asakura is doing the music.Xyga wrote:The manga so far is not very good honestly, it's not even clear if it's trying to really build a main plot or just start several smaller in parallel.
P.A.Works is saving this season, Sakura Quest (aka Shirobako 2) and Uchoten Kazoku 2 are both great.
I highly recommend watching Uchoten 1 if you haven't seen it yet, the setting, story and characters are completely charming. If you liked the wacky humor of Tatamy Galaxy (same author), you are gonna love this thing.

Ah it's not that bad. The Action Platformer thread is great, and there's some great posters these days like Perikles shedding all sorts of light on forgotten history. And yes, it's most definitely dope, with a capable female protagonist (!) and Inoue Kazuhiko's voice talent to boot. From what I've heard, the compilation movie cuts out quite a bit of plot and the dub is very poor, so try and watch the original OVA series if you can. There's a subbed upload floating around online if you can find it.

I'm a physical media guy so I will also try to hunt down the VHS tapes for the series
(the DVD sells for like $250 US and up so I don't think I will be getting that, lol)
