game boy player boot disc

Post by mvsfan »

alright guys, the top layer on my %(#* boot disk is cracked and seperating from the bottom layer. It still plays and boots the game boy player though.

what can i glue it back together with thats not going to eat into the bottom layer?

Edit: this was supposed to go in hardware.

You'd be better off doing what's necessary to run gameboy interface instead, as it's much better than the stock boot disk: better image quality (via 240p and 480p output) and lower latency (via the LL and ULL versions). If you're going to have to spend money buying something to fix your existing disk, you'd be better off spending that money towards an SDML or Xeno or something else.

Does the ULL version work on a multi-format BVM hooked via GCVideo (HDMI) GameCube?

I don't know. Maybe? I don't have a gcvideo. I use GBI with a PAL RGB cable.

My current approach to loading GBI is a XenoGC chip in my cube and a burnt mini DVD-R, which I periodically update. However, I've got a Datel SD Media Launcher in the mail so that I can more easily upgrade to newer versions of GBI, and play around with the commandline parameters for it. I'm hoping I can still get something to auto-boot. The SD Media Launcher does not require a modchip because it comes with a boot disc.

Is it better than SD Gecko? Is there any difference?

I would like just an app like Swiss in order to force 480p60 or 576p50 in my PAL GC, so I don't know which device is better for this.

SD Gecko is just a name for the SD card adapter. You need some sort of way to execute software to use it for anything meaningful, which is included with the SD Media Launcher.

Basically, no one uses the SD adapter for its "real" purpose. Nintendo released it in Japan for games like Doubutsu no Mori e+ and Pokemon Channel.

Has anyone here bought an SD Media Launcher from Datel/Codejunkies recently? Does it have the silver sticker on it?

I bought one a while back and it never came with the sticker. Wondering if that's been fixed or mine was just an anomaly.

You mean on the SD adapter? No sticker on mine either (bought it a few months ago).

I have another one in the mail that'll be used with my NTSC Cube without having to swap with a freeloader - thanks Datel for your stupid enforcement of region locking on unofficial software..

Yeah

That's a bummer. For paying ~$30, I should expect everything.
