i haven't been playing the dlc loads but i've been making bits of progress. i'm up to midir atm. it's really baffling how such a big boss could be so hard to hit. it's like there is something weird going on with the depth perception or something. i don't think i've ever missed a boss as much as this before. it's quite a fun fight though, it feels epic. i've started getting him under 50% now, so it shouldn't be too long till he's down.

You can't really beat a luck build around Anri's sword.

Oh, I did not even know this sword had such AR with high luck. I'll definitely give it a try, and can certainly use some Carthus Rouge too.
I'm SL100 now, but can go higher and dont intend to stop at 120 for PvP, do you know of particular stats repartition that go well with that sword ?
Bravo jolie Ln, tu as trouvé : l'armée de l'air c'est là où on peut te tenir par la main.

I always think the best think for PVE is being able to use a wide variety of weapons since you can always switch them to deal with different situations, as well as mix up your play style to keep things interesting.

For that reason I'd say maybe go for some kind of quality build since you'll meet the requirements for almost every weapon you could want. But in the latest patch they really improved heavy infusions so if you've got a strength build going on you might find you can get pretty good damage out of all sorts of weapons that way. Worth investigating before you use a respec!

discussion point: what do people think of....
Spoiler
...the new covenant? I think it's a cool idea even though it doesn't seem perfectly balanced. I maxed out my rank already because I got a bit obsessed. I feel a little sorry for players who come in alone and just got overwhelmed, but on the other hand it's deliciously satisfying to fend off a player who brought along a horde of phantoms. It's like I'm finally getting revenge for all those times I got ganked as an Aldrich faithful. Anyway I'm looking forward to making use of the purging monument and see it from the other side.

ooooook, so i finished the dlc. some quick thoughts:
Spoiler
first of all, holy shit, i didn't realise midir was an optional boss. it seemed like just the next boss after demon prince. my progress went something like, run past dragon on bridge, try to open big church door and get told to go away, kill/knock dragon off bridge, go talk to woman behind door again, fight dragon for real. it doesn't really make any sense that before knocking the dragon off the bridge you get no prompt to open the door after the giant tells you to go away, but after knocking him off you do..... i didn't even think to check it again.... why would i?

the midir fight in general is pretty good, although he has way too much hp. it probably didn't help i was playing on ng+ with a level 100 character, but it seems to be a common complaint even with people playing in ng.

the demon prince fight was good but when i was doing it i thought the first phase felt really superfluous, it's too easy to feel meaningful and just seemed like they now feel that every fight has to have multiple phases and shoehorned it in. i've now read that the second phase is different depening on which of the two you kill first, which is kind of cool, but i still don't think the two phase thing felt well implimented.

filler boss was fine.

the gael fight is the best part of the dlc, although again suffers from having too much hp. the first phase is really great. his movements are pretty freaky and take a while to learn, but once i did i almost felt like i was dancing with him. however once i had this part of the fight down i rarely got hit, punished him at every opportunity and it still dragged on for ages. second phase is a little dull, but is really only there so you can learn some of the moves for the third phase - which is pretty great, although i think the lightning is unnecessary.

as to the gimmick parts of the dlc, i got really annoyed at the angel section when i first played it, but it was totally my fault for missing the way to kill them by running past the first bug thing. after i went back to the start i found it more enjoyable exploring that area. i think the first time you come across the archer spawning guy is much worse, although it's obvious you need to make your way along hiding behind the big stones, and the drop down bit was easy to find, killing the guy on ng+ while he is constantly spawning archers and the silver knight was.... a little frustrating. in future i'll probably just run past him. i think when you next come across him in the swamp it's much less annoying.

one other thing i didn't like about the level design on the whole is the abundance of drops of no return. on the whole i liked the dlc though.
