Best Donkey Kong collection??....
Donkey Kong Classics, for the NES, is the best one that I know of, but I've read that it's actually missing a few levels-strange considering that Nintendo owns the rights to the series.

The only true-to-arcade port of Donkey Kong I know of is an unlockable in the N64 Donkey Kong. I even considered picking up a N64 just for that game. I love the Arcade DK. And yes I used to own DK classics. Definitely a level missing among other little details.

Donkey Kong Classics is just the original NES DK and DK Jr. put together in one cartridge. I was disappointed that nothing was added from the originals. Also, some older home computer ports of DK like the Atari 800 and C64 versions actually have all of the levels intact and the "how high can you get" screens.Damocles wrote:Also note that Donkey Kong Classics only has 1 and 2. If you want 3...well...go elsewhere. I enjoy it though.
*shrug*
The GB Donkey Kong is not really a collection, though it does have the four levels from the arcade version. It is an excellent new version of Donkey Kong, though. I also recommend checking out Mario vs. Donkey Kong for GBA.

Thanks for the info, BrianC!
How's NES Donkey Kong Jr.? Is that missing any levels?
I just find it pretty silly, not to mention annoying, that there is NO single Donkey Kong collection for ANY Nintendo console that has all of the levels of DK, and DK Jr.

Good news; thanks!BrianC wrote:DK Jr. NES has all of the levels, but is missing the cutscenes and intro from the original. It's a very good port of the game.

Yet another reason, though, to get DK 64! That game must have more unlockables then any other console platformer! Jetpac, and an arcade perfect port of the original Donkey Kong!
