Help remember japanese pc retro emulated store site

Post by qmish »

Could you please remind me that certain japanese website, on which you could pay 10$ in a month and then additional price for each game to get japanese pc games from Sharp X68K, NEC-PC etc.? It comes with some kind of emulator built in something and they also give you nice bonuses like manual scans or something like that, and the best thing, as i heard, you could use service while being not japanese citizen, so i m intrigued.

But cant find a link as it was on assemblergames which is down atm

Is it Project EGG, by any chance?

At first I thought you might be referring to WOOMB.net, which I understand has been shut down.

I mean...

http://www.bazix.nl/

They basicallly released translated disk images or cartridge dumps that were only playable in the emulator they provided.

Not fond of the idea of paying for a subscription service where I pay for the same price or more as similar services on console on top of a monthly fee. I also heard you lose the games if you unsubscribe.

False. You lose access to updates and key registration on new PCs, but everything you downloaded to your Project EGG folder (front-end, games, manuals, &c.) remains intact and usable without lockout.

I'm convinced they use subscription pricing in order to divide some of the revenue to rights-holders of less purchased games (tell me, who in hell's gonna buy old Winky Soft PC-88 xRPGs?).

I wanted to try it... but looks like english version of site has like 10% of games etc. Is it a way to register to japanese version of EGG using non-jap visa etc.?

I actually encouraged them to add Paypal as an option for EGG Music many years ago, and they implemented it as a result. Works fine for the music downloads (which are great by the way, recorded from original hardware and remastered), but I'm not sure about the game downloads. Maybe it's not available for subscriptions? Have you tried filling out the form yet to see if Paypal comes up as an option?

Haven't tried anything yet, just noticed that "english" version of site is actually different, instead of language of interface.

And, honestly, i'm only interested in EGG because of manauls scans as i love videogame artworks from them.
