Sony PVM (20M2E) n00b here, please help

Post by allshallend »

Hello.

I've been a avid reader but never really posted anything. What a great community.

thanks to you, I've finally gotten myself two sony PVMs for my retrogaming ;-)
I wasn't really satisfied with the results as I fiddled around with geometry. So I factory reset everything.

My 14M4E has a good image geometry now.
But the 20M2E doesn't have a picture at all. I am connected via scart breakout cable from retrogamingcables.co.uk.

Since the factory reset, I cannot activate the Line/RGB button anymore. With the 14" Model, everything works. The 20" model resigns doing so.
But as far as I know, it is this button I need.

Can anyone please help me with this? Thanks so much. Everything was working BEFORE the factory reset. As soon as I've reset it, this button can't be switched on. I'm sure it's a setting somewhere, but... as a PVM n00b, I'm lost.

Thanks so much for your help!

**EDIT** I actually just re-read your post and wasn't understanding you - so you're saying you literally can't press the Line/RGB button and get it to light up? It looks like you have TWO RGB Inputs on that monitor. Make sure you have the R G B + Sync (4x) cables plugged into the correct one (and into the IN side, not the output...made that mistake once ;) If that one doesn't work try the other (just to discount if one set of inputs aren't working....these monitors are old as hell now...).

**before edit** still check this out as mine wasn't working at all until I changed the sync:

Look for the sync setting for RGB. Think I had to change mine from INT to EXT and the picture came right back on.

(I'm also totally new to this as well so don't feel bad! Not being able to get it to work actually got me a Sony BVM for $20 because the owner didn't know about this sync setting either so he couldn't demo the TV as working when I was there - which when I got it home I finally found that setting and it now works beautiful!).

I've got an M4E, same control system/manual.

Manual here.

What is your process for starting up? Are you sure Sync is good? What system/cables are you using?
