Sorry for the noob question, I'm not exactly tech savvy. Is it possible to connect an NES via composite video to an NEC XM29 Plus? I assume so but I can't find any information on it using Google and up till now I've only ever used an RGB connection (for other consoles).
I came across this old post of Arasoi's where he says:
Arasoi wrote:The jacks on the back of your NEC XM29 that you are interested in are the RGB2 "RF" BNC connectors that read R/G/B/H/V or similar. Red/Green/Blue/Horizontal Sync/Vertical Sync. For the purposes of this explanation, ignore vertical sync. It is in fact possible to plug into the VGA connector as well, but if you intend to plug VGA devices in later its best not to use this port for your low res RGB.
Composite video goes in Hsync. But, composite video from your SCART switch will need to be processed before going into the H sync jack as well. The XM29 does not sync off composite video. So you will need to buy or have someone build a sync stripping circuit. This can be accomplished with an LM1881 chip, or getting a dedicated unit like this:
The XM29 Plus accepts composite video, absolutely. VIDEO 1 and VIDEO 2 inputs are indeed composite video/s-video inputs.
Just get an adapter like below, put it on one end of an rca cable(standard composite video cable) and plug it into the "BNC IN" port of the "VIDEO 1" or "VIDEO 2" input. Then select Video 1 or Video 2 on the remote(or on the monitors input buttons)
