Looking to buy another TV over 70"

Post by Hoagtech »

I am trying to find a TV that has really low input lag and is over 70". I do not like curved.

I tried my usually sources or rtings and input lag database but didn't find the sites as useful or organized as they used to be. 4K would be nice too.

I am looking to spend around 2-2.5k and will be buying two at the same time (one for my brother).

Can anyone reccomend a model?

Last year xyga turned me onto a delicious Sony 65" (17ms) but they have been sold out and never restocked

The vast majority of 70"+ TVs are outside of your stated price range. There are a few options within that range. For example, BestBuy has:

Vizio E70-E3 ($1,000)
Vizio E70U-D3 ($1,100)
Visio M70-D3 ($2,000)
Sony XBR75X850D ($2,500)
Samsung UN70KU6300FXZA ($1,700)
Samsung UN75JU6500FXZA ($2,200)
Samsung UN75JU7100FXZA ($2,500)

While people here don't seem to put too much stock in rtings' results, they do have several of the above models covered. Here is the list again with the rtings 1080p60 lag score (in game mode, and not necessarily for that exact size):

Vizio E70-E3 (???)
Vizio E70U-D3 (46.1ms)
Visio M70-D3 (17.1ms)
Sony XBR75X850D (34.6 ms)
Samsung UN70KU6300FXZA (19.8 ms)
Samsung UN75JU6500FXZA (26.5 ms)
Samsung UN75JU7100FXZA (26.1 ms)

The only one that I couldn't find was the Vizio E70-E3.

I ended up buying the Vizio m70d3 as it has the same input lag rating as my Sony kdl65w950b. I am hoping it has all ports at this speed.

Thanks for the tips guys

Nope it's only port #5, I guess you'll have to manage with a decent HDMI hub.

Anyway that's as good as a TV for gaming gets in that size and for the price.
It's far from having the best quality for viewing movies, but it's fast and moves well.
You even get 1080p120Hz from a PC if you wish.

Damn Vizio still not selling overseas.

Why not settle for slightly less?

Walmart/Best Buy still stock the Sony W630/610b, which is 60" and has less than a frame and a half of lag. It's pretty great aside from some small DSE issues.

But it's a bit small at 60".

I don't really see the one-port-low-lag issue as being all that severe: I've been working off a single HDMI port for years, since everything ultimately goes down a single HDMI cable around the room to the projector (which has lots of inputs, but running lots of cables would suck).

Yeah it's fine. It's just nice to have each input on their own settings but I'll deal with another hdmi box.

I already own the 65" Sony w950 (man cave) so 60 would be a little too small and this one is for my living room. I want my son to see the most giant of alphabet letters on his kids shows haha idk

Will no one buy that 77" SONY OLED and invite me over for movie night?

Come on, I'll be bringing Kobayashi's The Human Condition trilogy. 9 hours of black and white dark nihilism, who wouldn't want that?

BYO popcorn.
