Someone recently sent a PVM my way and, yeah, it arrived slightly broken.
The screen powers up I get a "No Sync" on the tube but I cannot do anything with any of the front panel buttons. No lights, no menu nothing.
So, clearly, the front panel is damaged. The various knobs seem to work - when "no sync" appears, I can change contrast as I please.
There seems to be a separate set of wires running to the buttons but it seems fully connected internally. Any thoughts on what's up here?
It's a PVM-2054qm

Re: PVM Issue - Front panel buttons not working
Ah, well, I figured it out. The circuit board on which the buttons are attached was partially cracked - the right side with the buttons is basically disconnected from the main panel hence why they are dead.
...but the rest of the display appears to work. The question is - is there any possible remote control options? Something that connects to the 20-pin input on the back maybe? Right now it's stuck in component video mode, basically, and it's not possible to change to another mode or adjust options.

It has the Sony Multi-Pin Remote socket, so you could find, or probably make one?

Can you post some pictures of the broken board? I think you'd have better luck buying a cheap/broken model from the same family of monitors and salvaging the part you need.
I bet the 14" uses the same parts.
