Jack Reacher: Never Go Back: **1/2
Tom Cruise reprises his role as Ethan Hunt on his day off, drifting around the country punching people who apparently really deserve it, and chasing down some big conspiracy while being hunted by a generic badguy who wants him dead because reasons. The end result is basically Store-brand action movie, Tom Cruise flavor. It did well enough in the theaters that they'll probably keep making these until they run the character into the ground though.

Re: Movies you've just watched
I do recall watch the Siskel & Ebert review with their nationally syndicated show, At the Movies, for this film back in 1981. the special EFX was considered state-of-the-art for it's time (even Jim Henson had his puppetry EFX team help out with the werewolf creature as well).kaicooper wrote:an american werewolf in London 1981

Pet Sematary 1989
a movie based on great Stephen King Novel..
idea is great..novel is best..movies too starts well in first Act
but suddenly director took another path..movie should be Horror/Fantasy
it becomes Dumb/Funny..i dont hate the film at all and i enjoyed it
what i really liked is the Atmosphere specially in the Sematary and some shots
near the end..Makeup effects is great (power of 80's baby..
Acting is OMG AWFUL ..even the 2 years old kid can act better
he was the best part in movie..there's another young girl she was sooo Annoying
the rest too awful acting..if u into horror..go watch it but dont expect something creepy
6/10

Re: Movies you've just watched
The movie is watchable on its own knowingly goofy terms, but as an adaptation of the flatly, mercilessly dark novel it's weaksauce. It also skimps on Louis's supremely nightmarish final excursion to the cemetery, and his disintegration in general. The more recent BBC radio adaptation is a comprehensively superior voicing of the material - going by your review of the movie, I recommend checking out its second half.
Used to be on Youtube, but unfortunately things look barren there ATM.

When it comes to "disturbing" horror, this film always comes to mind. I understand the criticisms but there is a sense of loss in this film, that is sickening.
Dale Midkiff emotes some crippling loss in some scenes.
For me the films highlight is the great Fred Gwynne. An immense patriarchal and benign on-screen presence. This is the caliber of actor we no longer see in the "girly-man" era.
Also, kaicooper, give the soundtrack to An American Werewolf in London another try. You might be missing the point somewhat there

hi there..thanx for ur comment..about the soundtrack..why i really hated was the transformation scene..the first time turning to WerewolfZen wrote: Also, kaicooper, give the soundtrack to An American Werewolf in London another try. You might be missing the point somewhat there
it should be dark and creepy soundtrack..but wasnt at all..here where i hated the soundtrack..not the whole movie..just this scene
there's also a camera movement scene through the Woods..nice soundtrack
Re: Movies you've just watched
It's a satirical movie, the soundtrack is entirely appropriate and perfect as it is. I believe "Bad Moon Rising" plays out the credits, and that kind of says it all.kaicooper wrote:hi there..thanx for ur comment..about the soundtrack..why i really hated was the transformation scene..the first time turning to WerewolfZen wrote: Also, kaicooper, give the soundtrack to An American Werewolf in London another try. Re: Movies you've just watched
To regurgitate Skykids comment, it should have been abundantly clear when 'Bad Moon Rising' begins and you see John Landis as the director (who anyone 'Stuck in the 80's should instantly recognize) that it's going to primarily be a comedy.Skykid wrote:It's a satirical movie, the soundtrack is entirely appropriate and perfect as it is. It's easy to say it's not 'dark and creepy' in hindsight, with a horror catalog spanning 36 years riddled with the most disgusting shit ever filmed. The transformation scene is fucking brilliant (the amount of work that went into creating those 2-3 minutes is staggering). Also has one of the best depictions of a werewolf (along w/ Dog Soldiers).

i believe its the best werewolf transformation ever..but i prefer much better soundtrack during transformation (i watched the scene again..i dont hate the music like i did first time)rapoon wrote: The transformation scene is fucking brilliant (the amount of work that went into creating those 2-3 minutes is staggering). but the funniest thing if u go back to watch the transformation scene again..after reading the book he begun Screaming and Transforms lol
that must have been a really shit book he was reading to get that kind of reaction

i watched Holwing movie whn i was a kid back then in 91..is it good?
Re: Movies you've just watched
The Howling is great, a black comedy of sorts in itself, with tons of throwback reference to horror movies past.
I must say Kaicooper you appear to have fairly decent taste in film, even if you don't understand some of the nuance that makes those films what they are.
That aside your spelling and grammar are rotting my fucking brain, is there any chance you could ask God for a spellchecker for Christmas?

Piffle! The greatest werewolf movie of all time is 1985's "Howling 2: Stirba Werewolf Bitch" starring Christoper Lee:

Two working class dudes, one black one white, just baked a tray of ten cookies together.
An oligarch walks in and grabs nine cookies for himself.
Then he says to the white dude "Watch out for that black dude, he wants a piece of your cookie!"

And it also has the best (well one of the best!) credits sequence of all time, anyone who doesn't disagree has no taste in movies or cannot accept gratification of any kindMischief Maker wrote:Piffle! The Wicker Man - a perfect allegory for being at least semi-rational in 2017.

Fight The Fight
Decent fights towards the end, but the rest of the movie feels like it was edited too much in a lot of places. That or they just had an outline of a story and went into production. Not really worth recommending even with Sammo Hung in it.

But man, what a disappointment. Replace the great horror feeling with bland boring jumpscares and loud sound effects.
Still better then most modern horror movies, but I cant recommend this movie.

The Handmaiden (2016) - Chan-wook Park
Empty.
Chan-wook Park wraps up the ridiculous lesbian fiction of the equally ridiculous Sarah Waters, in the prettiest bows he can craft, which are obviously very pretty indeed.
All style.
There is more substance in Jung-woo Ha lighting and smoking a cigarette as the regal Count Fujiwara, than there is in the entire boring plot.
