How to connect guncon to PVM via RGB?
Hi guys, I've got a pvm, a playstation one with a guncon. I am trying to set it up to work but I am failing. Can anyone enlighten me how to connect it all up?

The guncon requires a composite video signal to work, so you'll want to get a playstation guncon video adapter (they're little breakout boxes with an av-multi port and some RCA jacks), or you'll want to buy an RGB SCART cable that has the composite RCA jack built-in for guncon use like this one:

You can watch MLiG's video on the guncon for more information.

Guncons also work with a luma signal. If you're using a SCART to BNC breakout cable with your PVM you can use some cheap BNC/RCA adapters to attach the guncon cable to the sync cable on the breakout cable you're already using. If you haven't yet bought a SCART cable I'd just get one with the composite plug on it made for a guncon though....way less hassle!

Splitting the luma signal will reduce the signal strength for both the guncon and the display, though. Better to pull the guncon off composite video, since that signal isn't used in RGB SCART.

I never thought about that, I've been using the green (luma) cable from component video with my guncons on a PS2.....I'll have to try it with and without them hooked up and see if it makes a difference in the picture quality. The guns themselves work perfectly but I could definitely see it negatively impacting the image displayed on my TV. Better to use the composite signal since we aren't using it.

It may not make any difference at all (the signal being weaker), and IIRC the GunCon was originally intended to split composite with the TV, but it would still seem to be best to avoid doing it if you don't have to.
