Street Fighter 2 Rainbow Edition ROM upgrade (bootleg PCB)
Would the Rom upgrade work on a single board bootleg STF2 board or does it only work on an original Capcom PCB?

Are you talking about the MSTREET-6 bootlet? It might be possible, since the board is essentially a clone CPS-1. Although it does have hacked program roms, so it might not work with replacements.
I have the MSTREET-6 and love it. After doing some mods, it's a fantastic board.
Synrgy87 wrote a guide for replacing the AU301 and AU302 clone sound chips with actual Yamaha YM2151 and YM3012. You can also replace the four 1458TC clone op-amps with real Texas Instruments RC4558. This really improves the audio, as you can hear here.
If you have the version with a 7805, you can remove/bypass it since it just takes 5V in feeds 5V out. I've also recapped mine, which cleaned up the video.

Thank-you SmokeMonster
I will try to research more on the MSTREET-6 PCB to seee if the rom swap is feasible.

Yeah, now you have me curious to know too. Either way, hang on to it because it's a gem. I messed with a couple of bad SFII-WW boards and vowed to never go back to real CPS-1 boards as long as I live.

The MSTREET has some serious issues with the sprite layer and one backdrop layer. For one, the backdrop layers don't quite align properly. Sprites are offset as well. You can see this in Ryu's stage where part of the wall is a sprite.
Furthermore, sprites lag by one frame. On my MSTREET board, the fade channel also isn't implemented.
It's a neat clone, but there's a lot of funk going on that differentiates it from a good CPS1 clone.

Does yours play a bit fast too? I never noticed the issues you mentioned, but then again, I was probably just overly excited to have a working copy of SFII.

It actually plays a little slow. The refresh is a little under 60Hz too, and only some monitors will sync to it. It's a strange one.SmokeMonster wrote:Does yours play a bit fast too?
