Any Ohio Techs for CRTs?
Hello, I discovered this forum through RetroRGB and it was recommended I ask if anyone knows how I can get my Sony PVM-14N6U calibrated/tuned? Its a pretty good monitor but I know it could use a tune up.

I had Chad B. calibrate my CRT. He's an ISF/THX certified calibrator based in Piqua, Ohio. Highly revered on AVS Forum.
I'm not sure if he does professional or broadcast CRTs, but I wouldn't see why not.

How much does a calibration usually cost? I've got an old XBR that needs some love.

Longshot, but could also use a good CRT tech in Northern California.

Re: Any Ohio Techs for CRTs?
So I just wanted to share what I am seeing on my PVM. If you look at the photo with the curled edges, these waves seem to echo into the picture from the sides so I can tell some straight lines become diagonal or curvy (like buildings in backgrounds most notably).

We should make a sticky thread for crt techs around the country. Not just Ohio

There's a thread on ArcadeOtaku for this. Not sure how complete it is, and IIRC it hasn't been updated in years.tjstogy wrote:We should make a sticky thread for crt techs around the country. Not just Ohio

If anyone else thinks it's a good idea I say we get the ball rolling. We really should have a communal resource for crt repairmen nation/world wide. Should we make a new thread?
Also, buttersoft you may as well post your link here as well.

I agree, a community CRT calibration/repair resource thread would be awesome. I am still wondering if anything can be done for my PVM, I posted a link to what I am seeing a few messages up.

Yes, I think we should have a thread for CRT repairs and calibration.tjstogy wrote:If anyone else thinks it's a good idea I say we get the ball rolling. We really should have a communal resource for crt repairmen nation/world wide. Should we make a new thread?

I would like to learn how to calibrate myself though.

Re: Any Ohio Techs for CRTs?
Agreed to all of the above. Would be very useful as a quick reference point rather than trying to call around or search through old AVS forum threads.
