PS4 Arcade Stick
Hi. I'm looking for a good arcade stick for PS4. Going by this list, it sounds like the Mad Catz TE2+ is the most solid as far as input lag and that most of the Hori sticks suffer from bad lag (which I heard has gotten worse with the Kai and RAPV models). I also heard that the TE2+ breaks easily. I did hear the latest brooks adapter has vastly improved since the comparison, so I wonder if it's better getting a 360 Stick like the VX-SA and going that route? However, the comparison list for 360 doesn't list VX-SA Kai, so I don't know how that stick fares (and on PS4, the Kai and standard RAP4s had vastly different ratings for lag).

IMO the Madcatz TE2+ is the best stick at the moment.

Ridiculously expensive though.

Re: PS4 Arcade Stick
I own a etokki Omni Sanwa for PS4 and it's a very solid stick with a robust, easilly upgradable brook PCB.
I don't know the details about the brook board's lag in latest update but it's highly used in competitive fighting tournaments so my guess is it's decent.

yeah, at that price, I'm a bit hesitant since it sounds like a solid stick performance wise, but I heard reports of buttons that stop working.Xyga wrote:Ridiculously expensive though.

How about the TES+?
I picked one up on Amazon before Xmas for £79.99 which seemed like a deal. Works a dream too, of course.
The TE2+ is just a bad clone of that Razer stick if you ask me. Way too expensive too.

Seems like the best bet.speedlolita wrote:How about the TES+?

Somewhat off topic:
Does anyone know what's up with all the gutted listings in eBay's sold history?
Edit: Removed my comment about the PS360+ as it doesn't seem to be in stock anywhere.

I heard the TES+ is good, but supposedly has more lag than the TE2+ (though I'm really not 100% sure about that lag comparison). I also read on the shoryuken boards that the TES+ may have the same issue with parts that stop working as the TE2+. From what I read on shoryuken forums, it sounds like the latest brooks fighting board firmware puts it in the same class as the PS360+

Re: PS4 Arcade Stick
The criticism often stems from the fact that they used white buttons, for some reason white Sanwa buttons have a different feel than their black buttons and most of their clear buttons, but aside from that, the default buttons are actually different from regular stock Sanwa buttons. For one 75% of them seem to be made to break upon removal, something that's never happened to me with any other Sanwa buttons that I bought. I ended up replacing them all, you might end up wanting to do the same.BrianC wrote:yeah, at that price, I'm a bit hesitant since it sounds like a solid stick performance wise, but I heard reports of buttons that stop working.Xyga wrote:Ridiculously expensive though.
The two greatest things with the TE2+ are:
- How easy it is to mod, you just press the button on the front and it snaps right open, even has a screw driver inside if you need
- It's really incredibly well designed ergonomically speaking, has good weight and feels great on the arms and hands, including for bigger hands.

Re: PS4 Arcade Stick
The posts on amazon and shoryuken suggest the issue with the newer Madcatz controllers is with the PCB.
Edit: How is the RAP V Hayabusa (2017 version)? Play-Asia has it on sale and it's supposed to have reduced input lag compared to previous models. JP impressions on Amazon Japan sound solid. The lone 1 star review had some odd complaint about the placement of the reset button.

Re: PS4 Arcade Stick
Maybe a panzer 3 from Jasen customs with a brook fighting board might be a better route..

RAP V Hayabusa 2017 no longer on sale.
I'm not sure if I want to go that high or go the custom route. I would like more info on the horis since they have some features other joysticks don't like a slide pad. I would also like to know if newer HRAP4KAI US models are getting the improved board with less lag.

Isn't like you're Daigo Umehara though is it, lag between boards is surely negligible...
Though I aware of what website I'm saying that on...

Though evidence otherwise was posted earlier in this thread...speedlolita wrote:Isn't like you're Daigo Umehara though is it, lag between boards is surely negligible...
Anyway, I'm looking for a joystick to play Hamster's Arcade Archives and fighting games like GGXrd Revelator and Skullgirls. I don't care to be the best playing, but I like playing classic arcade games with a joystick and I'm looking for something closer to arcade quality.
I'm looking for impressions of various sticks to find one that is worth the asking price. I'm willing to go over 150, but I don't want overpriced crap. I haven't heard much about the Qanba Crystal, Obisidan, or Dragon. How do they compare to other sticks. Is there a US equivalent of the 2017 Hori RAP V Hayabusa? Do the red, white, and blue HRAP4 Kai sticks still have the same lag issue?

360+ in stock here -
http://marvelouscustoms.com/joysticks/p ... onsole-pcb
It is a great PCB. I wanted it specifically because it supports the DC, but if the PS 4 is the console you're going to be using it on you may want to go with a off the shelf stick.
The current firmware times out after 8 minutes and I'm not sure if they're going to fix it any time soon. I am pretty sure it works with Skullgirls though.

Too bad that etokki stick is out of stock. That one sounds solid. Looks like both Hori and Matcatz have Tekken sticks coming out. Madcatz Tekken 7 TE2+ looks like it has a model with all black buttons.

Thanks a lot for that link. I was on that site a few days ago and didn't think to look under joysticksStevens wrote:360+ in stock here -

Re: PS4 Arcade Stick
Happy to help. I wanted one so bad, grabbed it off of playasia back at the start of December and then saw it was out of stock everywhere. I was so glad I got it when I did. Truthfully I don't even remember how I found that page last night.Lord of Pirates wrote: Thanks a lot for that link. I was on that site a few days ago and didn't think to look under joysticks.
I've also discovered how to do the reconnect on the PS 4 without physically disconnecting the controller. This cat did us a solid:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LSSJz8euL-Y&t=3s
He covers the force boot at 3:50 and how to deal with the timeout at around 6:20.
In the video he says hold start and select and then push HK to disconnect. You actually hold select and HK, he makes the correction at the top of the video. Then push home to reconnect.
It is a great board. My only complaint for whatever reason is I always have to force boot it, but it is a really small complaint.

Re: PS4 Arcade Stick
Actually, the Brook converter I was thinking of getting, was that 360 to PS4 adapter, not the fighting board. That's why I also asked about 360 sticks in my first post (not to mention that I have plenty of 360 games that could use a good arcade stick like Capcom Arcade Cabinet and some shmups). Amazon Warehouse Deals has the RAP EX-SE at a good price with free prime shipping. I heard Brook has also been good about updating the firmware when the timeout thing happens. Actually, while I still plan to get a PS4 stick, a 360 stick might not be such a bad idea since the stock pad isn't as good as the stock PS4 pad (which is incredibly awesome).
Edit: Looking at other posts on this forum, I decided to go ahead and order the RAP EX-SE since it sounds like a great stick for shmups.

Did you grab the SE? It appears to be out of stock - hope you got one, it is a good stick.
