Kaillera's Mame32 Plus Plus v0.119 was the only build which gave me decent performance on this hardware. I sometimes experience framedrop in Batrider and Burning Force, but overall it is OK enough to play Air Gallet, ESP Ra De and bunch of older shmups, as well as couple of other Capcom and Namco titles. Haven't noticed input lag tho. Anyway, really happy to have these games on my CRT playable in their native resolution.
Does the card do 240p or just 480i?

Does it matter? The build is ten years old, and with that level of performance the emulation could very well be full of speedhacks, especially for games as recent as Air Gallet.

My XRGB tells it's 241p. (I use Soft15kHz + quickres tools, obviously)

About time for me to make a policy against buying any more TPP action(-adventure) games before I finish at least one already started (following the one I've had regarding jRPGs for months now), but ever since El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron surprised me by looking better in hindsight than I found its screenshots when it was new, that one seemed oddly missing from my current backlog. Not anymore, whew.

Got a turntable! A Sony PS-LX300USB, works great with my dad's old Pioneer system (cassete player, radio and amplifier. The turntable is broken), speakers are CS-575 model. Sounds is really good, at least for something that he bought at least 35 years ago. Gray metal colour is great.
Also got Jean Michel Jarre's Oxygene as my first record, but everyone want to try the old ones now: Tina Turner, Lionel Richie, and Neil Diamond stuff...
EDIT: I can convert my records to audio files with this, is Audacity a good alternative software to use? FLAC Oxygene seems a good thing.

The best. ^__^ Makes me nostalgic for my dad's old hi-fi rig back home.

Buffed up my Gameboy CIB-fu a little. I consider the hard core of my collection for the format done and dusted, but I'm never beyond snaffling up a few more. They cute! :3

Spartan X isn't as great as the AC/FC original or PCE Vigilante - lacks their sharp pincer mixups. However the no-miss is blitzkrieg-paced goon-smacking fun, and most importantly, it nails the series' signature whip-smart attacks and hit detection. Was interested in Lock 'N Chase ever since picking up DECO's superb Burger Time DX. As BrianC pointed out, they feel very much by the same team. Not familiar with the AC original, but this is a good Pacman-esque with BTDX's same winning combo of goofy charm, airtight code and instant pace. Actually a bit more technical than it looks - timing the appearance of moneybags while staying ahead of the fuzz gets addictive. The "advance" game looks pretty involving too.

Speaking of, got Kirby expressly for the Advanced mode (see here). Not to be underestimated - it's seriously good arcadey sidescrolling. Also, being a big fan of HAL's Totsugeki! Ponkotsu Tank, I love its same cartoony yet unmistakably rock-solid impacts. Clobbering stuff just feels good in these games.

Thanks, BIL. Your GB stuff looks great, as always. Kirby games are great. Not awesome technical stuff, just a good (looking) platformer that everyone can play and enjoy.

My lifelong dream came true, I am finally a proud owner of PC-Engine Duo R - console - and this one has had its lens replaced to a new one, RGB mod and region switch installed, along with couple other longer-lifespan-providing fixes ^^

I bought few games too, and burned some to cd-r - will keep collecting them whenever I can afford.

Add a Turbo Everdrive to the naked Hu-Card slot and you're all set. Is the best & cheapest way to play the uber-rare TTI version of Magical Chase without breaking the bank or your wallet these days.

Good news : it is a fine machine - I have the most Shmups for the PCE myself and a Shmupper cannot really go wrong with the PCE - have a good time with it.
Games I like, but there are many: GunHed, Soldier-Blade, Nexzr, Spriggan, Gate of Thunder, Winds of Thunder, and many more.

Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

A few more retro additions arrived over the past week:

Ane-San (sealed!) for PC Engine

Horned Owl box set for Playstation (inspired by the lightgun thread!):

And two Mega Drive titles I've been to keen to play (can't believe I missed Sonic 3 back in the day... was a huge fan of 2):

I loved Voltron as a child, I preferred the vehicle team though.

My brother (13 years my senior) bought me the complete set for Christmas of 85' or 86'. I played with that thing so much.

It is still in good enough condition to display and the land and air team still connect to one another. The leg joint on the sea team has been busted for years though.

"Acceptable" was right as far as the Amazon Marketplace condition goes, but the stick works great and feels awesome. Tried it with Golden Axe AC, Ikaruga, Guwange, Final Fight, and Radient Silvergun on 360 and it worked awesome for all these games. I also tried on PC. Works great too, but some hiccups due to the stick being detected as a hat switch. Steam's configuration options solved that issue for Steam compatible games.

Thank you for the hint, PC Engine Fan! I proceeded to just that, ordered myself one from Canada, and now I am waiting for it. Estimated arrival was between 8-13.2. so there is a good chance that it will arrive in time just for my birthday, which is 10.2. ;)

Why is Mega Drive-Tan so bookish? Given the console she is an anthromorphised metonym for, surely she should be a sexually objectified mechanical fist gushing RGB lasers?

Very disappointed.

Speaking of Mega Drive, my recent pick-ups:
Image

I'm pretty sure Arrow Flash was the one Sega-programmed shmup I was missing from the console's line-up (the others being Whip Rush, Crying and the MD conversion of Forgotten Worlds). And I've checked one more TechnoSoft game off the list.

Funny, the MD version of Forgotten Worlds is harder than the arcade one.
One day I'll dive into those horizontal shmups....
