Silicon Optix Image Anyplace PLEASE HELP FORUM

Post by laserbrick »

Hi there, is there anyone here who found the best set up for the SOIA 100? The more in depth the better! I just picked one up and am having the hardest time getting an image from my SNES to my Samsung 46" 8000 series LED TV. Am I missing anything and where can I find what I am missing? Do I absolutely need a Kramer FC-14 or is there another by Extron or something? I prefer to stay with Extron, but I guess I have to get whatever works.

Here's my gear situation:
-SNES (or other 240p consoles)
-Wookiewin Scart to BNC > Retroconsole accessories SCART to SNES multiout
-Silicon Optix Image Anyplace, Firmware 1.200.031
-Samsung 46" 8000 Series LED TV

The SOIA doesn't support 15khz RGBs, so you either have to go s-video or use a RGB to component transcoder - see here: http://shmups.system11.org/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=58955

Thanks for the information. So if I want to stay BNC with my setup should I be focusing on obtaining the Kramer fv-14? Is there any alternatives, say by extron?

The Shinybow Scart to YUV transcoder was recommended in another thread. Not sure why you would benefit from BNC connections for 15khz signals.

Using an Extron AV Switcher, also, doesn't this have to convert the signal before is reaches the SOIA, which is BNC. which is BNC.. Unless I want to use VGA..

RGBHV is VGA. You can use 5 BNC, HD15, or DB15. It's still RGBHV.

The FC-14 is virtually impossible to buy. If you do find one that someone is willing to sell, it'll cost you.

You can pair the Extron QSD 204 with an Extron RGB interface, but the QSD 204 is rare. I'm still hunting one--and I don't know how well it performs.

Hey guys, got the Fusion Scart to component box. I have it running from my SNES to the Converter and then out Component to an Image anyplace out to my 65" NEC LCDTV. The color is good as is the sharpness (there is some vertical banding) but the image stops blinking, as if there were a sync issue. I tried many different combinations of cables/inputs Any advice?

Perhaps since the device is SCART>Component I don't get the sync?

Try dropping down to v21 or v24 firmware.
