Need some help with B&O MX 8000 setup

Post by shawly »

Hey guys,

so I've got my MX 8000 which is also my first CRT TV since 2007, I have hooked up a softmodded Wii via an RGB SCART cable to play NES, SNES, SMS and SMD games and now I want to correctly set this bad boy up to get the best CRT experience.

First off, the guy who sold me the TV didn't have an original Beo4 remote, just this Universal remote from Essence which was really quirky so I've bought a König IR 9843 replica from Classic (IRC81181), from what I've read it's not a Beo4 replacement, it's a Beolink 1000 replica, but does this matter? I can still send it back and get a Beo4 from ebay if I have to, but only if it's really necessary since they cost around 60-70€. I also got a Harmony 350 if it's any better than the IRC81181 remote.

Anyways, I have a few questions regarding this TV:

1. How do I switch to the AV input? I've been able to set the AV input as decoder and then I could access it through channel 1, but is this the right way to access the AV input? Does the V.TAPE input also have RGB? The AV button on the replica remote didn't do anything..

2. How do I enable the de-interlacing mode with the replica remote? The remote has a Shift button which also seems to do something, but if I press Shift+7 nothing happens with the picture, I can't see any difference, does that mean the Shift button doesn't work or is the software missing support for de-interlacing? In the Service menu under Monitor it reports that it's SW version is 1.4.

Thanks in advance!

1. Yep V-Tape works as RGB

2. You need an official remote, or if you're feeling really freaky you can bridge two points on one of the internal circuit boards to access service mode I believe

Whats so special about service mode? You don't mean the service menu right?
Could you explain why the third party remote isn't capable of enabling de-interlacing?

Edit: So someone else told me that the MX 8000 doesn't have the de-interlacing feature because it was optimized for 480i content.

Oops sorry, I was in kind of a hurry when I posted there. Should have read more carefully. You might be correct about the 8000 not having de-interlace mode, although I thought I'd seen a video about it a while back. May have been the 7000 though :/
