My Nvidia control panel doesn't have display scaling as an option in the drop down. And my GPU's scaling adds a frame of lag, while my monitor's (ASUS VG248QE) doesn't.Guspaz wrote:That's the graphics card/driver doing that, not Windows 10. On nVidia cards, open the nVIDIA control panel, go to "Adjust desktop size and position", and change the value in the "Perform scaling on:" dropdown from "GPU" to "Display".
A word of warning, for digital displays, it's generally much better to do it on the GPU than on the display. The GPU upscaling is better quality and handles resolution changes instantly. It's also potentially faster, if your display has additional lag for non-native resolutions (the GPU scaling does not add any lag).
On my U2711, the GPU scaling is worlds better. The U2711 is very slow at resolution changes, while the GPU is instant. The U2711's scaling isn't as sharp as the GPU. And finally, the U2711 has really buggy "aspect ratio scaling" support, often getting it wrong, or even drawing black borders on all four sides. The GPU scaling gets it right.

How did you measure your GPU's scaling if you can't see the option to configure it in the control panel? It should not be adding any additional latency.
Re: Questions that do not deserve a thread
I have a bvm 2011P which is by far my favourite 4:3 monitor due to the punchy image and level of geometry options available. It really is amazing. Anyway I recently moved home and noticed that the image has rotated a few degrees anti clockwise in its new home. I can't for the life of me find a tilt or rotation anywhere on the control board. Does anyone know how to adjust this?
Re: Questions that do not deserve a thread
+ I've noticed on many programs that you have to know what scaling options are available and select the right one. In DOSbox I get much cleaner graphics using a DirectDraw scaler than using the non-scaling DOSbox option, and it seems at least as fast, possibly faster, even though my monitor is a model reknowned for low latency (as tested with signals at the native resolution, of course).Guspaz wrote:How did you measure your GPU's scaling if you can't see the option to configure it in the control panel? I just got an OSSC. My RGB consoles work fine when hooked up individually, but I get no signal when I use my Extron Crosspoint switch. What's up?
Re: Questions that do not deserve a thread
Are all of your consoles csync? Extron products don't support composite video sync or luma sync.
How are you connecting the crosspoint to the OSSC?
How are you connecting the crosspoint to the OSSC?
Re: Questions that do not deserve a thread
Everything works using the extron switch going to my PVM 20L5. Using another output from the switch to the OSSC to the flat screen is the trouble. I'm using a bnc to scart cable, one that otherwise connects the SNES to the switch. Someone suggested I try bnc to d-sub, to connect to the OSSC's VGA input.
Re: Questions that do not deserve a thread
SCART is directional for composite video (used for sync) and audio, so you can't use the same SCART-to-BNC cable both for input (SNES-to-switch) and for output (Switch-to-OSSC). Basically, eight of the pins have been designated either input or output, and so a different set are connected in an input cable vs an output cable. In the case of the OSSC, it's likely that the only relevant pins are the composite video and its ground.
You'll either need a separate cable for that, or you'll need to rewire the SCART head in the cable to connect the other pin instead.

Re: Questions that do not deserve a thread
I wondered this same thing for taking the output of a Extron VSC/RGB combo in it's BNC format and changing it back to SCART for my component converter. Would it hurt anything to bridge the pins on the SCART end so that the R, G, B, sync, and audio lines are connected to both the input and output pins? That way the cable could be used in either direction.Guspaz wrote:SCART is directional for composite video (used for sync) and audio, so you can't use the same SCART-to-BNC cable both for input (SNES-to-switch) and for output (Switch-to-OSSC). Re: Questions that do not deserve a thread
What are all of the things that a XenoChip can do when installed on a GameCube? I already have an SD Media Launcher and was wondering if there are any benefits of installing a XenoChip.
I'm thinking about buying a PAL GameCube, having it modded for HDMI (with the Digital and Analog ports still intact), and a XenoChip installed. This way I can play GameCube games in 480p/60FPS Component via official component cables through the digital port while getting lossless digital sound from the HDMI port, and play GB/GBC/GBA games in 160p RGB via RGB SCART through the analog port.
My display is going to be a CRT BVM, which have no audio output. So the audio will be routed to a digital stereo or surround sound system for the best possible sound.
Now what about the the best possible picture? Would it be better to play GameCube and GB/GBC/GBA games in HDMI or component on the BVM? If HDMI, what setup? If component, unmodded or modded for RGB and/or VGA? Would a component cable modded for RGB even make a difference if the GameCube outputs a native YCbCr signal from it's internal framebuffer? Is RGB SCART better than the official unmodded component cables for GB[C/A] games? How do modded component cables stack up against RGB SCART?

Re: Questions that do not deserve a thread
I recently grabbed an SDLoader myself and I for one am disappointed in the dreadful support for SD Cards. From what I could gather is they only handle ancient 'non SDHC' cards (which are pretty 'rare' nowadays and are under 4gb). I managed to find one that I will dedicate to GBI, but it would've been nice to have a few cards devoted to ISOs of games on hand. I suppose I can find one more card and just go back and forth between games on the fly - its just annoying is all. Is there a solution out there that I am just not aware of? I feel like older speed USBs are more prevalent that SD's, is there a type of converter where we can use USB?
Re: Questions that do not deserve a thread
Yes, if you boot into Swiss you can then swap to larger SDHC/XC cards. The SD card limitation is only because of the MediaLauncher/ActionReplay.korpse413 wrote:Is there a solution out there that I am just not aware of?

Fantastic! Thank you, apologize for the ignorance - I'll be sure to spread the word!
Re: Questions that do not deserve a thread
I don't know if any devices would actually connect to both, but connecting the outputs to the inputs is a very very bad idea that seems like it could fry a device that was actually trying to use both.Shoryukev wrote:I wondered this same thing for taking the output of a Extron VSC/RGB combo in it's BNC format and changing it back to SCART for my component converter. Load unlicensed or out-of-region discs, and force a certain region on boot. Theoretical support for multi-game discs using the built-in "XenoShell". IIRC I briefly tried to get into that once, but couldn't get the shell to appear, and reportedly even when you do get into it, multi-game is very unreliable and doesn't work with many games.GeneraLight wrote:What are all of the things that a XenoChip can do when installed on a GameCube?
Re: Questions that do not deserve a thread
Swiss does all the things a XenoGC can do, and does it better. It just offer an alternative entrypoint, on less convenient media.

Re: Questions that do not deserve a thread
So my Extron Crosspoint 450 FINALLY arrived after some massive delays, and I'm just trying to test it out. Currently, I can plug my Wii, SNES, and PS1 into it. PS1 and SNES both use sync strippers and the like to get clean sync, and they plug into the back of the Extron with the SCART to BNC cables I have for them. The Wii plugs in with just standard component cables. From output 1 on the Extron, I have four cables coming from the R, G, B, and H sockets to the back of my BVM (bunch of RCA cables with those little BNC converter caps on the ends). I currently have no audio running into the Extron as I'm waiting for a batch of RCA cables to arrive so I can butcher them and make little RCA-phoenix converters.
Now, my issue is that I cannot get the outputs to light up at all on the Extron, and therefore I can't get any signal going to the BVM. If I press any of the output buttons they stay blank, but the Audio and Video buttons over on the right will blink briefly. Anyone know what's going on?

Re: Questions that do not deserve a thread
So it seems I've solved the problem. Tried doing a hard reset, but that didn't work, but a system reset using the front panel did. Held the audio/video buttons for a few seconds and now I can tie inputs and outputs together and do what I want. Thanks me!Chomolonzo wrote:So my Extron Crosspoint 450 FINALLY arrived after some massive delays, and I'm just trying to test it out. Currently, I can plug my Wii, SNES, and PS1 into it. Re: Questions that do not deserve a thread
Awesome to hear man, I also recently snagged a Crosspoint, def not as beastly as the 450 series (only the 300 series 8x4) but it will be perfect for what I am aiming for. I too will be making use of the Phoenix audio ports, it seems pretty straight forward using this diagram here. So I was going to grab some female RCA cables / female 3.5mm and follow the diagram the same way just for ease of use, was this how you are also going to do it Chomolonzo?Chomolonzo wrote:So it seems I've solved the problem. I'd imagine I should stick with 'Balanced Audio' as opposed to 'Unbalanced Audio', correct? Audio is not exactly my forte. Thanks!
Re: Questions that do not deserve a thread
Nope, you need to use the unbalanced pinouts. Anything coming from a gaming system or RCA/Cinch cables in general is unbalanced.
Balanced is what you usually get from XLR outputs.

Re: Questions that do not deserve a thread
You should use Unbalanced Audio as that is what is passed through the RCA plugs from your consoles. That is how I have my Crosspoint wired up and it works fine.
Re: Questions that do not deserve a thread
So I have this memory card for my PS1. It's from back in the day, it still works as far as I can tell:-
ps1-memory-card by videogameperfection, on Flickr
It's got 4 pages, and there's some way of changing pages by holding buttons down on the controller, but I can't for the life of me remember how.
I know it's not compatible with the PS2 as far as changing pages goes, but I'm using it on a PS1. Does anyone know the button combination I need?
N/M Found it! Hold L1 + R1 + Start, then release all but start and use up and down on the controller to change pages.

Yup, that's the diagram I'll be using. The guy I bought the Extron off was cool enough to send a bunch of phoenix connectors with it... but I'd already bought some myself, not realising they were packed in. The 450 one I have is the 450 plus 88 hva. 8 in, 8 out. Not huge, but I'm not into getting consoles I didn't grow up with, so I'm sticking with my Nintendos and Playstations.korpse413 wrote:Awesome to hear man, I also recently snagged a Crosspoint, def not as beastly as the 450 series (only the 300 series 8x4) but it will be perfect for what I am aiming for. That's entirely up to you, everybody is going to be different. Open up the video in media player classic and experiment with different playback speeds until you find one that works for you.

Re: Questions that do not deserve a thread
Whew, just finished making a bunch of seven RCA-Phoenix adapters. Cost me $7 AU all up. Nearly tripped up on needing different wiring for the output, but fixed that up. Now all I need is the long 4-head BNC cable to go from the Extron to the BVM pn the other side of the games setup I have and I'm all set (besides getting my NES and N64 modded).
