One day I'll be too lazy to post news in two places. Until then....

Rumor has it that Rajirugi Precious will be released for the PS2, and Rajirugi Generic for the Gamecube on 05.25 for 6090 yen. The GC release was apparently going to be out in March, but was pushed back for a simultaneous release w/ the PS2 version.
I wasn't expecting much from this game at all. But I'm having a great time with it.
The 2 step/house/trance/jazz/breakbeat/funk soundtrack is very cool (probably one of my favorite game soundtracks, diggin' the bass lines, big improvement from Chaos Field to my ears). The bullet visibility is exceptional. Watching videos of the game on the web just don't do the game justice. It looks fantastic on the TV. Slowdown is noticable but nothing too out of hand, helpfull really. Those bosses do time out easily but i'm sure ties into the game somehow. I just hope the scoring system dosen't end up putting me off in the long run.
Great game highly recomended, can't go wrong with this one.
So, those of you who are planning on getting the PS2 or GC version, do you know how to get them to display native VGA resolution? I don't think the PS2 can do this. I've heard it's possible with the GC if you make your own cable.
Otherwise, why would anyone hold off for the ports? Do you feel that the extras will compensate for the reduced image quality?
Depends on the extras. Extras which affect gameplay > image quality. If they're all about the same, I'll probably get it on PS2 just for the sake of convenience. I hate tating my PC monitor and I rarely have the DC hooked up anymore.

Absolutely. Like Neon said it depends on the extras, but the RGB I get through scart is mighty good enough in any case. And I have no way (nor interest) of getting VGA from my DC, so it mostly boils down to convenience for me, in which case the PS2 port will get my order.
No matter how good a game is, somebody will always hate it. No matter how bad a game is, somebody will always love it.
Ugh! It would have been so easy if this game sucked. No! It's actually good (just played it early today via llabnip). Why do all these games come out at the same time? I still feel like I did the right thing by preordering Ibara and Under Defeat since this is coming out on three different consoles (none of this selling out and going up to $100!)
Still, I'm surprised; this is definitely a good game with an enjoyable but not overly complex scoring system. Given how much is taken right from RSG, I need to say I approve--both Ikaruga and RSG are great systems but not always the most fun to actually play. Raj on the other hand is a blast! Now I just need to figure out what console I want it on...
They also state more extras will be possibly included, and for people to keep an eye out for their website updates.
Milestone didn't include a Score-Attack/Practice mode on the DC version, so for those of us who enjoy practicing/score-attacking individual levels, we'll be forced to shell out for one of these new versions. I'm not really happy about that.

Very little?
You must be kidding. One of the bosses is directly from RSG. The whole 'bullet slashing to raise your super meter'. I'm not saying it like this is a bad thing--I think I've already explained that in my post. I just felt some of the patterns and game mechanics were awfully Treasure-ish, though without feeling as god-awfully heavy as a treasure game

Considering RSG has 270 bosses there's bound to be a likeness for any game.

I'm not saying I care if the game is a rip-off or what, I just think this is factually off. It plays "very little" alike. The very little would be the sword swinging bit, but the scoring systems and level styles are totally different.

I think we're arguing over something very little here. I'm talking game mechanics and you're talking game play. I also saw a few things that felt a bit like tiny nods to me, but who can know for sure. Certainly I agree they play very differently and if someone was taking what I said and assuming this would play like RSG, they'd be in for a huge surprise.
Again, I only sat in front of the game for an hour; I don't own it. But I do feel some nods are there. I don't know why you'd use the phrase 'rip-off', since in general I'd say this game feels very original.

The thing about Milestone so far is that they are "borrowers." There's a lot (that can be seen as) taken from a lot of games. I think Chaos Field was more of a hodgepodge, but this still reminds me of a few games. Giga Wing and ESP Ra.De. mostly.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but the "collect item to enable collecting another item to multiply points" is very Cave (see also the specific "x16"). The bullet nullifying charge-shield is pretty Takumi (ESP Ra.De. had some kind of shield too, didn't it?). These seem to be the main influences.
The game is definitely cool, but I think I've already had my fill.

Practice mode is awesome, that's what I hated with Chaos field that I always had to play through level 1 to pratice 2 and 3 .That's a good thing with Shiki on the GC it has practice mode
I suggest you al pre-order those wh pre-ordered Chaos field expanded got a free Sountrack single. I hope they do something similar with Chaos field
Personally I find the scoring system in Radirgy a pretty intriguing system. After you beat the game, coming to grips with how the multiplier works and scouting out each level for optimum green pill recharge opportunities really adds to the staying power of the game. And then there's the whole "100% item collection" aspect which I'm still aiming for.
How do you guys thinkt he game holds up after more time spent with it? Still a worthy purchase overall would u say?
Big thumbs up here. I'm enjoying it even more than when I first got it - it's easy for me to sit down and play a dozen games and not even realize the time going by - that's a good sign. I've got at least 15 or so hours in at this point and would definitely recommend it. I'm glad to see this will be ported to the PS2 and NGC to give even more people a chance to play it!

Once more the light shines brightly in sector 2814.
The look of this game is absolutely tops. Just got it today, and I am deeply impressed. I still have to figure out what I'm supposed to be doing, and it isn't helping that my eyes are regularly distracted by the gorgeous sights.

It maybe helps that I don't have much time for games lately, but it's still part of my rotation. Still trying to get that 100% item completion (98%... where are the others??) or consistently pass the St. 4 midboss and boss. It's a bit unfortunate but Stage 5 seems more do-able than 4 if a good rhythm is kept... midboss is much less trouble aside from one pattern.
Starting to consider making a few runs just to transcribe the text-messages if no one else does it, the story seems moderately intriguing and the spam messages are entertaining enough.
So yes, it was worth the purchase for me, it's gotten more random playtime than a lot of the other stuff I bought in the last year or so.

what's better? I didn't know things were that black and white now :p
actually, I remember hearing from a couple people that they enjoyed chaos field more. whatever floats yr boat I guess.
The art certainly comes across as being more inspired. Music is once again fiting the game in ways that countless other shmups have failed to acheive. It might kill your family when you least expect it though.
