The SW universe was always a huge part of my childhood, Princess Leia was definitely the first crush I ever had. Now that this has happened it almost makes me think of her CGI appearance in Rogue One as a sort of dark foreshadowing. Sucks to know that the next time I watch a new hope it will be with sad overtones in my subconscious.....rest in peace Carrie Fisher!
What the actual fuck is with everyone dying at around age 55?

I was afraid Carrie Fisher was going to have permanent brain damage - 20 minutes on CPR ain't a little thing. Haven't seen any word yet whether she woke up after the heart attack, probably not.
2016 lived to a ripe old age (a second longer than most other years), had no shortage of accomplishments, and all who met him agree: We're happy he's dead.
I found out about another 2016 death: Tyrus Wong, whose name I noticed in the credits of Bambi. He cleaned up the backgrounds of this famous classic of American culture with his impressionistic paintings. He died Friday at age 106. http://www.latimes.com/local/lanow/la-m ... story.html
Wait, WAIT . . . . WAIT!
Just on the the border of the celebrity Annus horribilis, the rim, if you will; The perpetually crass harpy that is Mariah Carey dies horribly. For five minutes and 58 glorious seconds.
2017 is looking good, so far. Happy new year https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UkTy_vSPkWc
I should point out two right now. The guy who voiced Luigi (That's Mama Luigi to you, Mario!) in the Super Mario World cartoon and Nemesis in Resident Evil 3: Nemesis, Tony Rosato, and Miguel Ferrer, who played Owen Granger in NCIS: Los Angeles, died.
Miguel Ferrer was great - I mostly knew him as Bob Morton from Robocop, but for that alone he's unforgettable. One of the decade's quintessential "coke-snorting douchebag with just a sliver of hapless sympathy" performances, alongside Hart Bochner's Harry Ellis ("Hans, bubby!") from Die Hard!

The local art house theater played this as part of the Merry Mayhem Double Feature (Gremlins was the other). The crowd was dying on just about ever Ellis scene...especially this one.

Jan Kruis, cartoonist of the famous long-running Jan, Jans en de kinderen comicbook series and inventor of the Saint Pancake day (where you put a pancake on your head on the 29th of November) that's celebrated all across the country, has died today at the age of 83.
