Even though this game looks very similar to Duel, I don't see TOAST involved
anywhere on the announcement page, so hopefully we're gonna get a port
that doesn't run as slow as molasses !
Yeah, Mobirix is mentioned. They are responsible for the solid Strikers ports on Android. Pretty fun stuff:-)
Hope it's not a rehash of Duel though because Duel was atrocious!

Have you even bothered actually playing it? Gold Label has nothing to do with Duel. It's basically a remixed mobile port of Futari.
Like with all the other mobirix produced ports the touch controls are pretty good and highly responsive. Graphics are crisp and not muddy at all...
Yes, it's f2p so this means in order to unlock other characters you'll have to play for quite a while OR cough up real money but besides that it's pretty solid.
Agreed...this is not bad. Of course it's slightly different than it's arcade / console counterparts but at the same time, I don't expect an exact port (especially since it has gold label attached to the name).
The only problem I have with it is lack of info on the meter but that should be easy to figure out in time. If I had never played any mushihimesama game in the past, I'd also appreciate a further explanation of whats going on mechanically (would be good for keeping new players engaged). Most here know enough to figure it out but for those brand new to the series, it would certainly round it out a little more.
Looking forward to seeing dodonpachi unlimited in the near future
Ok, so what is actually playable in this free version?
How many lives do you have and can the game be completed? Are the Normal and Maniac mode acessible?
Oh, and the most important; Does the on screen control option have the classic joystick, like in emulators, or it can only be played via finger under the ship (which basically destroys the actual game balance)?

Maniac mode can be unlocked...probably by completing Normal mode. There's also God mode...
Like every other mobile port of a cave game it's controlled with proper touch...what you call finger under the ship. If you think this destroys the game balance stay clear of it, it's not for you.
My opinion: virtual sticks suck, especially in shmups.

Thanks for answering.
Regarding the controls, it's not really a question of opinion. The game is meant for the ship to have a certain speed (in Cave games we talk about different sets of speeds depending on the weapon), so when i'm moving the ship 5 times as fast, the intended balance is broken.
Virtual stick, once you get used ot it, is fun imo Wish they had it as an alternative option.

You unlock what's called 'Maniac' and 'God' mode by leveling up.
They don't appear to have any scoring system differences though, just denser bullet patterns.
