So lets see...

- a post goes out saying that GCVideo is almost ready. Don't pay crazy prices on EBay "we will always have them in stock" - "come and order now"
- a couple of tweets in early October about issues with production
- web site + tweeter account go cold. No replies to e-mails

Am I the only one that feels that "bad ass consoles" just ripped off the entire community!??

I don't have the skill or equipment to be doing any QFP chip drag soldering or anything like that. I don't want to remove my digital port, so there aren't any good mounting spots for the Pluto board. And lastly, I wanted a clean-looking and easy install, which your bundle of wires straight to some video chip doesn't look like.

If I wanted to do a fully DIY route I'd have had a Pluto board in like a year and a half ago.
My version has this, but I'm not currently selling pre-populated boards.

I wonder if a GameCube with Digital GCVideo outputting HDMI would look better -> SDI on a BVM than a regular GameCube outputting with official component cables -> BNC on the same BVM.

SDI's pretty worthless for games. I think with HD-SDI you're forced to feed it 720p or 1080i, and with SD-SDI you're forced to feed it 480i. So if it's a multisync BVM you're stuck with 480i, which is of course worse than 480p via component.

I'll defer to Fudoh as to whether or not that's all correct though.

From what I've heard, SDI can do everything but 240p.

I didn't pre-order one of these because I was just going to wait for the thing to get released but if I did I would be pretty worried at this point with the lack of any communication. People can be understanding if there are any issues as long as the communication is there.

I think you've heard wrong in that HD-SDI can't do any resolutions lower than 720p, but again Fudoh is the person who I've read anything about SDI from. In the end I know he always recommends against it.

He's pretty well-respected in the community, so I don't genuinely thing he's ripped off the community by taking the money and running. He was the first person to have UltraHDMI boards available, and that would have been a much bigger payoff if his goal was to swindle people outright.

At the same time, the complete lack of communication and huge delay makes me want to never buy anything from him again.

You're thinking of 480p. Virtually no SDI hardware supports 480p since that was never a broadcast standard that was used.

So SDI can do 240p/480i, 720p, 1080i and 1080p?

RetroRGB said he talked to him a couple weeks ago. He really should update everyone that ordered though to give them a status

I wonder if peeps who used paypal will start doing "charge backs" soon. I'd be pretty upset with no response what so ever.

I might do that if we hit New Year's without an update, but I still don't know of a totally comparable alternative.

I also have wii version currently in development. It will be using a flex cable to connect the ave-rvl chip like the N64 HDMI mod.

That's a good looking HDMI GameCube install citrus. Are you using the Pluto board? I installed the Pluto board in my GameCube but did a not so good job with cutting the hole in the case for the HDMI port.

It's a custom design w/hdmi mini connector. It uses an ffc cable to connect to a qsb; which is soldered to the bottom of the digital port.

I already dremeled the back of my cube and part of the disc drive stand for mega's board, so I'm going to hold out hope longer on that front so I don't have to buy a new case. I'll gladly take your Wii board as soon as it's available, though I'd probably have to pay someone to install it considering the pitch of the GPU pins.

This is most likely stated everywhere around me but is my best bet grabbing an oem scart for GC, or get one custom? The specs are not quite the same as the SNES one, right? Just want to be prepared if Santa is good to us this year and delivers us our kits :D I grabbed the AD kit so yes, it's kind of silly that I'll be adding the Wii style multi and an HDMI when ill just wind up using the analog multiout with scart, but I just want my GC to be flexible in case I bring it to a friends who has hdmi only for some..

gamecube and natty ice while listening to jack johnson

lmao I couldn't resist the previous satire was too strong... would link the video but the premise is pretty inappropriate, although the sketch is classic.

Hmm, I'd think the main thing is the price difference. I'd imagine OEM SCART cables for Nintendo consoles are on the expensive side, like the OEM Dreamcast VGA box. Maybe I'm wrong though?

For anyone who bought with BAC, he just talked about it on his Twitch stream. He ordered it through a company and has still not heard back from them. He decided to switch companies. He said he'll tweet it out.

There were four pieces of flex that he ordered that were bad. The company refused to accept that the whole product was bad. He pretty much had to start over. He also said it's setting back his plug and play version.

Wow that sucks. Totally understandable. I feel bad for BadAssConsoles; he probably lost a lot of money having to switch companies and presumably didn't get his money back from the bad company. Also everyone who ordered GCVideo.

The issue people had wasn't because of the delay, but because of the lack of communication. His supplier wasn't responsible for that, he was.

Yeah, I'm not sure I'm going to be very inclined to purchase from him in future despite being interested in these projects, just because his communication is so atrocious.
