So I want to build a cable to go from my Extron 203 to my PVM-2030. The 2030 has a DB25 input, and the Extron has BNC out. What I was going to do is buy a BNC to DE15 (VGA) cable and cut off the DE15 connector, strip the ends, and solder it onto a DB25 connector in the correct places.
Page 17 of the below PDF shows the pin-in of the DB25 to the 2030, and the Extron 203 has the ability to output as whatever sync I want it to. The 2030 manual has different input options, I beleive that it accepts TTL as well as sync via luma, composite sync or sync on green. Also, if someone can confirm what I should do with the outer BNC wires, that would be good. Currently, I believe that I should make the outer contact from the BNC go to a ground pin on the DB25 connector. There are plenty available. (pins 15-24)
Can anyone recommend an optimal path solution for this build?

well in most cases ground is ground is ground.
yeah the outer sheild gets connected to ground in the db25.
sometimes you have to leave one end of a cable open to avoid audio interference but not in the case of your pvm.
that happened to me when i built a component snes. the audio is going through one cable and video through another and i was getting awful audio buzzing until i left the sheild on one end of the audio cable disconnected.

thanks for your input. I believe that your audio issue sounds like a balanced/unbalanced issue. that is to say that you were getting a balanced audio signal (i'm assuming you were coming from an extron) and putting it into an unbalanced amp by combining the cold sides of the L/R. hmmm. Maybe just a ground loop somehow. What reason do you believe that I won't have the same issue with my PVM?

if it was a ground loop it should be solved by using 1 single cable instead of 2 parallel cables.
with my snes Im using the multiout for audio only. 2 cables.
