Looks cool

Though, on mw i saw this:The de/Rastra oscillographic synthesizer is a real-time audio/video instrument and computer-interfacing device that allows a performer to generate visualizations intrinsic to cathode ray tube technology while simultaneously creating the acoustic analog of the displayed imagery. The de/Rastra oscillographic synthesizer is an open source project and will eventually be accompanied by tutorials on methods of CRT hacking. Related tutorials can be found at http://www.crackedraytube.com/textstutorials.html but specific information regarding de/Rastra are in progress.
The deRastra project is very cool, but just to prevent any misconceptions, it is a virtual simulation using max/msp and digitally generated video and audio content in an old monitor/controller interface
Another option is digital (like the "de/Rastra"), in which XY values are read out and then a software algorithm generates a raster image based on those values. LZX will release something with "vector to raster conversion" at some point, in our digital frame buffer module series. But even then, like the de/Rastra, it is going to be a simulation of an analogue XY display and not quite the same effect
