Sony PVM 2130QM screen distortion

Post by Zeromemory »

Greetings, can anyone clarify me what caused this issue?

I don't know how visible it is, but the image on the right side is warped.

If anyone has any advice or solution, I would be grateful.

If you're lucky, it just needs a geometry adjustment. If so, I think it needs to be shifted right and then the PIN AMP be adjusted until the sides flatten out. It's best done with a test pattern. And it can be dangerous if you don't know what you are doing. There are deadly electric currents present inside TV sets.

Edit: added warning.

Thank you for the advice, hope that's solvable with pot adjustment. Or if anyone has some other idea which wouldn't require opening the CRT, that would be great.

I will test also using composite cable since I forgot to mention that I use RGB SCART cable for my consoles.

Since both CRT and speakers are in really cramped space, I thought that the speakers are the issue, but that wouldn't explain why there is no such distortion on the left side.
I need to find some CRT test pattern then, since I don't have the possibility to use 240p test pattern using game console like Dreamcast.

Does anyone has some alternative for the test pattern? Some DVD ISO which can be reproduced on the DVD player?

certainly speakers can warp the image on a CRT. any strong magnetic field can. you should move anything like that away to see if it clears up. however, i still think it looks like an internal geometry issue.
