Xbox VGA w/ progressive scan support

Post by captain ahar »

anyone have/used this unit?

i was hoping i could spring for a hidef set this coming fall, but that is looking more and more unrealistic. so instead i am looking for something to tide me over a bit. the only vga box i've heard anything specific about is no longer being manufactured (the X2VGA+) and thus commands high prices on ebay (usually around $100).

so in looking around, i found the above (quoted price at $52). also, anyone used Golden Shop before?

considering it is a multi-tool, will i get better performance with different cables (component as opposed to rca)?

thanks

Yeah, I have used goldenshop before, only about three times though. From memory they are ;customs friendly' when asked. The stuff took quite a while to arrive if I remember correctly - about 3 weeks to the UK. Airmail from HK is usually 5 - 10 days max. Maybe I just got unlucky. http://www.dcslinks.com/catalog/ and www.gamechoiceclub.com.hk have been good for me in the past for those more obscure items. Faster shipping with those as well. HTH.

I would try to find the x2vga+ adaptor. I currently have it and it works great. Metal Slug 3,4,5 and Panzer Dragoon Orta are the only games I have that don't work on it. When Neoya had them in stock, they were about 80 bucks with shipping. 2-3 weeks delivery time. I say if you find one for 100 bucks or less on Ebay pick it up. The Neoya website says they are working on a new model.

the thing is, i'm looking to buy a nice tv set early next year. the vga device was simply a means of tiding me over. and when a used x2vga+ costs 1 tenth of the set i want, you start to question if the trouble is worth it. :?

thanks though.
