In fact there were already some mentions about Batrider and Bakraid possibly being next in the interviews on famitsu, from Kamui if I'm not wrong, the machine translation was pretty dodgy.
IIRC she said those are ports she'd like to see in the future. Still, it seems like a natural next step if this does well.

What do you mean by "the machine translation is dodgy" exactly?

Google Translate is not very good at translating Japanese.

Oh, duh! I was like... "does that mean they're having a hard time porting it over or what?"

Got it though, thanks.

Kamui was just listing the games she'd like to see ported.

The president of M2 said he wants to do Cho Ren Sha and PC88 Silpheed. I believe he also gave a hint at the next game they'd be doing but I forget what, it was a fairly standard "something the fans will like"-type comment.

Silly question, but I noticed in one of the demo videos the guy was using Golden Bat and he powered up a little to have thick bullets.

However, I noticed that some time later he collects a big power up and then his bullets changed to skinny. What's the deal with that?

that's just the normal upgrade path. it goes from the fat cluster, to a wider spread skinny version, and then further upgrading will lead to fully upgraded wide spread with thick bullets. iirc, the thick bullets have a piercing property which is why some people might stick to the first thick bullets upgrade for the first few stages.

The ST has some info on this, particularly in the "Rank - A Hacker's Guide" segment.

Thanks guys, I did check the ST but got lost and distracted.

The PS4 announcement made me break out my Saturn version again and hook it up to one of my cabs.

I don't have a PS4 and probably won't get one, as I would rather get the PCB, but I having a big dilemma because I really like the Saturn version - my eyesight is really bad and I need the ball shot version.

Also the cab that I am most comfortable on, I can't tate the monitor, but the saturn version allows me to use the thin vertical version on the horizonal screen. I do have a Cute that I can tate, but its not very practical.

Would be grand to own the PCB, because I like to have the PCBs, but it seems the saturn version is just as good and has more flexible options.

If anyone here owns the PCB and thinks 'No, I own both and you have to have the PCB' then please pipe up and I will dig deep and try and get the PCB.

It'd be cheaper and better to just buy a PS4 and the port than PCB imo.

I do believe the "ball shot version" is available as a revised PCB (it's playable in MAME). Not 100% clear from your post if you thought it was only available in the Saturn port, but shouldn't be a deal-breaker if the board is what you really want..

Yes, it's called Battle Garegga Type 2, but not every bullet was changed. The really long ones (like most of the first boss's turret and double cannon fire) were not, for example.
And the hidden ships, IIRC, are not available.

Still, I do hope Ver.2016 will have this as an option. Maybe a better version of it.

Type 2 also removes the option formation cycling with the C button if I'm not mistaken. The only explanation I can think of is that they didn't want people playing that version.

I might guess it was "this game would sell better if there was a version compatible with two-button cabinets!" and that was the lowest-effort way of meeting that requirement  Batrider has that awkward two-button compatibility, too.

I am very interested in buying the standard version and the upcoming Dangun Feveron (since noone wants to sell the PCB anymore).

I have 2 related and 1 general question:

1) Do I have to buy the JP version or is there a western release planned?

2) Let's say I buy this. Do I need a Japanese PSN account? Do I have to jump through various hoops to create one or is it as straightforward as on the XBOX360? And if yes can I have multiple accounts on a PS4 (one for my european releases and one for the japanese stuff)? What happens if I switch the account?

3) What other shmups/puzzle/arcade games can I pick up for the PS4?

M2 have said they're working on an international release for Battle Garegga, but no details yet. They haven't said the same for Dangun Feveron.

Resogun and Astebreed are also on PS4.

They touched on it a little in an interview: the director's going for a more conventional shoot-and-dodge approach with fixed rank increases and so on, but they didn't go into much detail.

The final master is done, expect more details soon.

Would be nice if they'd make some PC/Xbox One ports.

Does anyone know if M2 have a general CS email?

So there are all four OSTs? Amazing.
I'm digging the 2016 Remixes. Techno/House/whatever is kinda unique for a shmup.

Oh nice, I wasn't aware that the new arrange tracks would actually be selectable in-game. Cool that the Saturn arranges are selectable as well.

'Ballsy they're keeping all the soundtracks. What's the over-under for Dan Curtin and Underground Resistance's record labels finally filing infringement lawsuits?

I'm surprised that out of all the HUD elements they crammed into the margins, there isn't one breaking down the points you get for each enemy like the display you can enable in Batrider and Bakraid. I'd gladly take that over the control display that takes up half the left side.

The newly mixed version of the soundtrack by Namiki sounds pretty good. If all 4 accompanying soundtracks will be included, that would also be pretty good. I don't have a horse in this race as I'm not getting a PS4 (or any PS3 post generation consoles for that matter) but this is shaping up to be a good set. I'll be interested to see what future titles beyond Dangun are released (Batrider and Bakraid would be welcome) and if a physical disc is in the cards somewhere down the line.
