JVC tm1650su service menu?

Post by eni22 »

First of all I want to say hi to everyone. I was sent here by a very nice user on reddit and hopefully some of you guys can help me with my issue. I am completely new to retro gaming and last week I picked up this JVC monitor. Everything seems to work fine in terms of image (as of right now I am using s-video).
The only problem I have is that I to modify the width because it doesn't fit, entirely, the monitor.
On the regular menu I can set up H and V but I cannot adjust the width. The reddit user told me I may be able to adjust that from the service menu but I have no idea how to enter it and I cannot find the service manual online.
Any idea?

Thanks!

This works for TM2100PN and TM1700PN so it might also work for your model.

Hold down Menu and press Contrast, then Phase, and when the screen says "Please don't touch!" press + or -. You're now in the service menu.

To adjust the horizontal size, choose the Deflection Block. First setting there with the signal you are using will affect horizontal center. D01 if you're using PAL 4:3, DA1 if you are using NTSC 4:3, DB1 if you are using PAL 16:9 and DC1 if you are using NTSC 16:9.

The second option (D02, DA2, DB2 or DC2) will adjust the horizontal size. From there on it goes like this:

DX3 EW-PIN CUSHION
DX4 EW CORRECTION
DX5 TRAPEZIUM
DX6 VERTICAL SLOPE
DX7 VERTICAL SIZE
DX8 VERTICAL LINEARITY
DX9 VERTICAL SHIFT

Remember the write down the initial values before you change any of them just to be sure.

Here are the default values for NTSC 4:3 because I assume you're using that:

+008
+004
000
000
000
-001
000
000
+001

You may try those but again write down what you have before doing that.
