Re: Zenodyne R - 20% off (Bundles also discounted) 'till Jul

Post by Chacranajxy »

Finally got around to playing a bit of Zenodyne R and... yeah, it's really good. Game just has a fantastic feel to it, all around. That said, I don't have a whole lot of experience with non-bullet hell shmups, and it's been a long time since I've played something that doesn't fit into that category. Holy hell do these bullets move fast.

Well that's mighty nice of you. I grabbed CI4PC-WFMFV-4VYJV.

Wow, thanks! I grabbed FFNBW-YAPVI-XMA26, after trying LXHPF-BM94Z-IGAB4, which was already taken. Funny how everyone seemed to assume that the first key in the list was already taken.

incredible music!!! the quality is not constant unfortunately, but the same can be said about bilion other games like image fight, where the music from the last lvl blows ones mind.
I love Stage 7 in Zenohell!. I hear tons of music and this piece is easy one of the best i have ever heard. Totally in my type.

I had to write it. Otherwise one might think i write off Zenodyne R.
The game is different and the music too. It is beautiful. One can not and shouldn't even compare these OSTs.
What i can say is , both are very accomplished, congratulations for chossing amazing artists for both games.

Zenohell rides on the bandwagon of manic shooters but Zerodyne R takes us straight to the shmup roots with the best music imaginable. As Totalbiscuit says "It is so easy to do something retro-like which is nothing like a real retro, artists in the old games had to cope with technical limitations on every step and thats why they pushed the boudaries to the limit".
You nailed it all !!

Sorry im rambling so much about the music , but it is such an important aspect of every game, and you do know what you are doing. I will totally support you in the future.

Cheers
Martin

Hi this is the first and last oppurtunity (I doubt Steam's winter sale will have a discount this big) to get the game. Thanks to the groupees bundle, the game has reached a far bigger audience than I expected, now, I also implemented Steam-side cloud support for Zenodyne R and Zenohell, I didn't even need to patch the games. The scores and unlocks are now saved on Steam cloud incase you lose em due a PC failure.

This game won't run on a WinXP, Intel integrated-graphics machine, right? Tried to play the demo yesterday but it wouldn't start.

Yeah that's the reason I have Vista as the absolute minimum in system requirements. Because for some reason my games when compiled under GM Studio never work on ACTUAL XP machines but work in virtual XP machines, which is hilarious. Linux/Mac with Wine work fine supposedly for those who don't have post-XP Windows.

Re: Zenodyne R - Patch 1.03 is live

Post by Kaiser »

Hi folks, we pushed a minor update (we'll be using a proper number system for patch numbers now).

We fixed a visual bug in stage 6-3 that was obvious yet we didn't spot it or anyone reported it really but more importantly, we tried our best to fix the situation where having multiple joysticks/pads plugged into the PC bugged the controls up for few people.

There's a bigger patch coming soon but I cannot disclose the details yet. By the way, as usual, the patch was applied to both Steam and itch.io

Post by Kaiser »

Yeah somehow i'm still updating this game. So Patch 1.04 is out on Steam and itch.io, let's say there is a major steam event coming up in a week from now on.

- Normal mode has been added, existing scores and difficulty have been moved onto Arcade mode (no gameplay changes there).
- Credits are easier to get.
- Players by default now start with 2 credits and get their 3rd credit after their first game over.
- Bugfixes with high score display.

Personally I think the hard paths would be still too hard for normal, at least that's how I felt when I tested those in normal. But i'm glad you are enjoying the mode anyway.

Quick question regarding the soundtrack, do you prefer the tracks to slightly overlap or is silence a must between the track? I think a (proper) fade between tracks gives it a better album feeling, myself, but I'm willing to even do two versions if this is what the listeners demand. ;)

The mastering is pretty much done and the final playlist (with fades is being mixed down to 44.1Khz, 16 bit audio now.

Re: Zenodyne R - 75% off until Jan 2

Post by Kaiser »

I assume all the keys have been taken so hopefully folks who got it will enjoy it.

Anyway let's get things straight:

- We are releasing Fire Arrow Plus sometime this month.
- We have 2 unannounced shmups for 2017 (one we've been teasing, another is waiting to be teased)
- One will launch on Greenlight in Spring and the other either in Summer or Autumn, but there's a chance they might swap places
- We have a second composer handling the second shmup (https://soundcloud.com/epilis) as per HeavyViper's suggestion (who's composing the first shmup stated for 2017)

Overall, it's gonna be a very busy year for us but you know, my own personal shmup library is not gonna suddenly happen by itself
