Sony BVM-14M4DE - fuzzy image in RGB

Post by Voltir »

Hello.
I'm looking for help. My BVM-14M4DE started to display fuzzy image when in RGB mode. Funny thing, when in YPbPr or Composite it looks fine. I've tested it with PS2 and Xbox. Anyone have idea what is wrong?

Screen from RGB: (sorry for poor quality)

Look at Circle symbol at the bottom. It looks like Red is not aligned with shadow.

Screen from YPbPr:

Here colors are different but image looks sharp.

Sumary:
- Monitor model: BVM-14M4DE
- image is fuzzy in RGB
- image is ok in other modes
- console are connected using scart cable and scart to BNC, using composite sync over composite video
Thanks for any info.

Update:

Look at "V". It looks like it is displayed twice. Whole screen looks similar, but only in RGB.

Try turning down Contrast (Gain). See if it isn't so excessively bright, which may reduce blooming, which may in turn help the geometry.

If the image is too bright like this, it may because you aren't using 75 ohm termination in RGB. Do you have terminators installed? I haven't used a BVM, but from what I've heard, they are required on the BVM units (as opposed to the PVM, where it's "automatic").

Thanks for answer. Sadly reducing contrast didn't work. I only have one 50 Ohm terminator. Terminating single line, either color or sync, also didn't work. I will get more terminators soon, but for now image is still fuzzy/blurry.

Update:
I've bought 75 ohm terminators, no change.
But I just noticed: in YPbPr image is sharp but there is a little bit ghosting.
Can caps be problem in this case?
