Yeah, shit dude. Even most 4k TVs have Component Input.
The only thing HollyDickWood forced companies to do, was force lower quality output or no output at all of Component for Video sources that needed HDCP.
HDCP and HollyDickWood is probably the reason we are saddled with HDMI to begin with, TVs still shipping with Overscan. And why Scorpio/PS4P are limited to 3840x2160-60hz-10Bit-4:2:0/2. (Because they forced the standards to only be baseline good enough to fit once again, TV/HW standards. No pushing the format forward with HFR video. They probably spent more time developing and shoving HDCP2.0 down other people's throats than the actual HDMI2.0 spec)
Displayport is the future.

I forget, can HDMI do 4K/30 10bit without chroma subsampling? Because I don't expect any 60fps 4K games, at least not on the PS4 Pro.
PS1 Disc-Based Game ID BIOS patch for MemCard Pro and SD2PSX automatic VMC switching.

It can, the problem is devices like XBO:S/PS4P ,etc output 60hz regardless of framerate internally.bobrocks95 wrote:I forget, can HDMI do 4K/30 10bit without chroma subsampling? Because I don't expect any 60fps 4K games, at least not on the PS4 Pro.
Outputting at 30hz doesn't seem like it would be a bad idea since most games run at 30 fps anyway. And most TVs support 30hz.
I don't know if that would have other implications though on the TV side. Maybe only some increased latency?
I mean, I guess you could use a PC connected to a TV and experiment playing games Vsynced at 60hz capped at 30FPS (or using 1/2 refresh sync). And doing the same at 30hz. (Just make sure you use an EDID override to ensure the display is being sent and is displaying a proper RGB/PC signal and not getting tricked into HDTV modes. Easiest way is to disable the extension block completely. Make custom 30hz resolution using CRU)
