Re: Tell me about the Everdrive
If US customs are as jammed as European customs, then there's nothing unusual about a few weeks of waiting. Welcome to the European way of shopping abroad.

Re: Tell me about the Everdrive
My Famicom N8 was just released a couple of days ago. Just be patient. I'd also imagine some of the turmoil in the area might add to the wait.evil_ash_xero wrote:Question about Retro Gate.
I've had a package stuck in customs for almost 3 weeks now. I'm not sure if I'm going to get it.
Anyone know Retro Gate's policy on lost mail? I mean, will he send you another one, or am I high and dry? It would be a shame, as I ordered an N8 and a Turbo Everdrive, and the full price was around 200 dollars. I planned on buying some more from him, but if his policy is poor, I will have to find someone else to buy from.
Also, anyone know how to reach the Jamaica, NY customs facility? I sure as Hell can't reach them.
Edit: To give you an idea, my order was shipped on 2/25, didn't show up in the US until 3/3 and didn't leave customs until 3/14. I'm getting it in today (3/17) in Southern California.

Re: Tell me about the Everdrive
That's good to know..
Still, my package has been in customs since the 27th of February. And it's been in the U.S. a few days longer than that.
This is the longest I've had anything stuck there. It's not normal at all.
EDIT: Well...just got an e-mail that my package got shipped back to them.
Fuck.

I was wondering if it had something to do with the goings on right now, actually.

Fuck, I ordered an SD2SNES from Retro Gate a few days ago. I really hope I don't have any trouble with it...

Re: Tell me about the Everdrive
Wup! Time to resurrect this thread for some advice;
- What are the latest store feedbacks for Europe please ? (stocks, reliability, potential customs issues)
- Also some development news for the SD2SNES maybe ?
- Is the newer Mega Everdrive X7 really worh the money or is it just unnecessary 'marketing' addons/upgrades over a X5 ?
- Regarding the Super Everdrive v2: is the optional DSP module useful (for what games?) and how do you select that option while ordering ?
ThX

Re: Tell me about the Everdrive
I bought most of my Everdrives from Dragonbox here in Germany. Unfortunately they don't offer any Nintendo ones right now.
The X7 has been available for some time. That's the original Mega ED. The X5 is the redesigned Everdrive MD. The X3 is a cheap featureless version to counter the chinese knock offs. Since the new X5 should have the write speeds of the X7, the main feature for the X7 remain the use of save states.

It received its latest patch on October 5th which did add some BSX stuff and fixes. It's being worked on but still at a slow rate.Xyga wrote: - Also some development news for the SD2SNES maybe ?

Re: Tell me about the Everdrive
Ok looks like they've moved the flashcart business to everdrive.de, and they don't take PayPal anymore.Fudoh wrote:I bought most of my Everdrives from Dragonbox here in Germany. Unfortunately they don't offer any Nintendo ones right now.
International payments to German sellers/stores via credit card or bank transfer is often a real pain from where I am, but I'll try them if I don't find anything elsewhere like in the UK, NL or whatever.
Well the X5 seems to be the one to go then (I don't need save states).Fudoh wrote:The X7 has been available for some time. That's the original Mega ED. The X5 is the redesigned Everdrive MD. I'm asking because my experience with flashcarts dates back to the stone age with early commercial models which I've resold a long time ago, now I've been considering buying 'fresh' ones. And of course the French reseller is always out of stock...
Still no SuperFX support in view then I suppose...eightbitminiboss wrote:It received its latest patch on October 5th which did add some BSX stuff and fixes. It's being worked on but still at a slow rate.

Re: Tell me about the Everdrive
You can buy Everdrives directly from krikzz (Ukraine). The other reseller I've used in the past is emere (Spain), but I've also heard good things about RetroTowers (UK) and Retrogate (Ukraine / Cyprus). Krikzz and Retrogate always had Black Friday sales, which is on the 24th this month I believe. If you're importing into the EU you'll have to pay import tax if you buy from them though.
There are also some relatively cheap SD2SNES on eBay, but ikari confirmed that they're not produced by krikzz and have some minor issues. Though that shouldn't affect their performance. Personally I still don't think the SD2SNES is the cart to buy, since there still has been no development regarding the SuperFX chip. I also recently heard a report that someone gets some sprite flickering in the opening of Chrono Trigger with his SD2SNES, but not the original cart.
The DSP module is used for a few games, including Super Mario Kart and Pilotwings. Here's a full list of games that use special chips: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_S ... ment_chips The biggest difference between SD2SNES and Super Everdrive is that the SD2SNES supports the CX2 chip which is used in Mega Man X2 and X3. The SD2SNES can also play Star Ocean, which is too big for the Super Everdrive.

Re: Tell me about the Everdrive
I might go the eBay route for the SD2SNES (I need the large roms compatibility at least), for instance warnersretrocornercom is a UK seller, anyone know them ?
You're saying those on eBay are not produced by krikzz then ? What kind of minor issues should I expect ? (can't find ikari's post)
Fo the mega Everdrive I'll try a store since the X5 is strangely overpriced on eBay...

Re: Tell me about the Everdrive
warnersretrocorner is fine. I ordered from them before.
https://krikzz.com/store/home/45-mega-everdrive-v2.html - scroll down. There's a comparison to the chinese clones. These are really almost identical to the earlier ED MD design. The usually work fine. I know enough people using one.

Re: Tell me about the Everdrive
I think the question was where to order the DSP module. I don't see it on Krikkz site. The older SNES ED used a standard DSP-1 chip, but this new module seems to offer wider compatibility. The DSP module is used for a few games, including Super Mario Kart and Pilotwings.

Regarding the minor differences/issues I was thinking of the SD2SNESes actually (krikzz vs. eBay)

Re: Tell me about the Everdrive
I was referring to a post on a German board. Someone posted a picture of their SD2SNES (bought from the seller "nicsgng2014") and Ikari said that it was manufactured in China. He later replied to the question how he saw a difference: "At first glance the battery brand is different. Then I can see 1-2 (non-critical) population mistakes and the QC stickers krikzz is using are missing. At least they're adding LEDs now." Looking at the photos I can't see any differences between the china version and krikzz' version.Xyga wrote:can't find ikari's post
He also confirmed the sprite flicker issue, but from what he says that can also happen with repro modules of Chrono Trigger and Star Ocean. No idea if italso happens with a Super Everdrive.
