I'm not planning to buy one at all, at the moment. This is unusual for me, I'm just sick of Sonys bullshit, the DRM on blu-ray devices, the endless hype around HD modes, what is and isn't. Fuck them.

I'll reconsider if the PS3 starts to get shooters, but I'd imagine that won't be for some time, even after it's released.

I am very content with my JPS2. I will most probably buy another JPS2 before PS2 dies out. As for PS3 no plans for it but a year or two after its release then I will decide.

I'm not planning on buying a PS3. Nien, notta. No way no how.

Unless Suikoden 5 turns out good. I have no use for this machine.

The 360 is getting no less than 5 Japanese rpg's and I am quite interested in 4 of them, as I don't care about FF XI. Anyway, this thread's not about rpg's.. I will not buy a PS3 unless Suikoden 5 is good, that's it.

Suikoden 5 is a PS2 title.

It'll probably be worth getting eventually, just because I'm expecting similar upgrades for ps2 as ps2 had for psone.

Don't worry - there will always be Suikoden 6, 7 and 9 when they announce them.

I would buy the one which cost me less. i.e. the NTSC(J) one.

I may get one when my modded PS2 breaks down, but only if it plays import PS2 games.

I read somewhere that it wil be region free for PS3 games, but maybe not for PS2 & PS1 games. We'll see.

I won't get one any soon, unless it can output progressive scan/VGA grahic when play PSOne/PS2 games on it. i.e. turning Low Res games into Hi-Res. :D

But does this means it just upscan the game internally? :?

I'll wait 2yrs to see if any shmups are going to come for PS3. I don't plan on getting any more consoles unless lots of shmups start coming out for them like the PS2. Thank god for Cave and Taito.

I guess this are the Next Generation SHmups

1. New Dondopachi
2. Mushihime-sama 2
3. Esprade 2
4. Ketsui 1 or Ketsui 2
5. Gradius 6
6. Einheinder 2
7. Strikers 1945 Part 4
8. Guwange 2
9. Gunbird 3
10. A Brand new type Raiden Fighters 3 or Raiden 4

I'll wait until at least 8 of those ten are released for PS3, then will buy it for sure.

Same as a lot of people here, I don't think I'll be able to afford one even if I want one, but I really don't want one as of now.

New games seem to be rehashing the same old 3D gameplay elements and just putting a fresh coat of paint on them and charging more money. Until I see something I havent' experienced before (or even some game?), I won't be getting any "next gen" console.

PS2, DS, etc. give me more games than I need to play anyway...

First, only if games come out for it that I'm interested in, which currently doesn't seem to be the case.

Second, even so, not until several years after its release since I'm not paying whatever extravagant amount it'll be going at initially.

Third, since my domestic PS1 and PS2 libraries outweigh my imports, I'll probably still stick to a domestic system with whatever region defeating devices that come out to play imports.

;)

That said, I'll wait until some actual games are released for it before I consider buying one. No reason to buy a system before it has something I want to play.

Yes, that's what I am thinking.

Base on past experiance with PSOne and PS2, Sony would very likely produce a smaller size version with lower price.

And there won't be alot of Shmups until a few years after the console is out, since there is less than 5 new Shmups each year.

Personally, I'm waiting until I can actually play one of those before I think about buying it. I know you can use that stupid (and it IS stupid) controller on its side - but how many games will support it? Will some expect it held vertically? Sorry but that doesn't work with human thumbs (just try it now, with a DVD remote, as if you were moving a ship in a shooter).

I most probably will end up getting a Revolution but I would really like to have a good go at the console and some games first before buying. At the end of of the day if the games are as fun as the stuff on the DS then I guess I am sold.
