I picked up this new CRT TV the other day. Am I right in thinking that Sony changed the way they look compared to older CRT Sony TV's?
What I mean is I ain't sure but the scanlines look more like pixels to me and not as intense, I could be wrong.

Oh so that's what it is, as it's 100hz the scanlines are less prominent

Any chance you could take some pictures to see what you're looking at?

It has the FE2 chassis which is 100Hz.22point8 wrote:Its not a 100hz model, I used to have one.
Get a KV-21CT1U (BX1 chassis) for a really nice non 100Hz picture.

Re: Sony KV-21LS30U
The FE2 can be either 50 or 100Hz, if it's the latter it's usually specified on the back of the tv.
My 27" of the same gen also with FE2 is 50Hz, plus I've never heard of a 21" 100Hz from Sony...
EDIT: here's a beautiful gallery of the 21LS30, splendid set: http://www.flickr.com/photos/77152418@N ... 025422984/
I have to admit their late 21" flat Trinitrons look very computer monitor~ish in low-res form, but they're also kind of studio-like in that they render in a very 'pure' form, maybe not enough 'natural-looking' for some (esp. the colors), the next step beyond that quality for true low res is in the realm of broadcast.
+ Also much less geometry issues compared with their 27" big bros of the same gen.

Those are some really nice screenshots. It looks like a nice tv. Does look a bit like a computer monitor in a consumer tv casing.
