Windows 2000 rocking a quad-core.

Has worse single-threaded performance and higher electricity usage than my dual, but hey... if the day ever comes when I actually need 4 cores for something, I could shove a Phenom II in here.

I've never read Dune, but I have listened to "To Tame a Land" many times.
You're sure to be in a fine haze about now, but don't think too hard about all of this. Just go out and kill a few beasts. It's for your own good. You know, it's just what hunters do! You'll get used to it.

Highly, highly recommended SciFi book to read and one of my favourites. You can feel the tension and the violence is very quick.

London Underground: Tube Chat?

I think to his credit he had good intentions but it is amusing how hostile the response was:
http://www.wsj.com/articles/londons-mos ... 1476364466

I have no idea why people commute to London at 5AM every morning.
Generally speaking, people are not really in a 'let's chat' kid of mood in the mornings in the UK but then during the weekends and friday nights it is more jovial so take this article with a pinch of salt all the same.

I'd love to see him try that in Vienna of Munich and just be a fly on the wall at the locals' reaction

Nor are they after a long days work, just wanting to gtfo and back home.. Not expend more energy talking to a stranger.

Jesus, he said “I’m expecting to change the culture of London.”
What an arrogant cunt.

I think a quote from Bolt-Thrower's Killchain would work aptly here: "No chance of escape. Caught within the mainframe killchain".

Yes, all rather contrived I see. Well, you may have all that to look forward to. But all the same I think he meant well just the situations do not scale too well. Once a city passes the around 3 million mark population wise people generally do not get on too well I find.

Today at school, there was a PA informing people the rules of Halloween costumes in school:
1. No masks
2. Nothing that looks like a weapon
3. No clown costumes, because of the creepy clown fad

Everyone in the classroom, including the teacher, lol'd.

Got a new cat after many years without a pet, she's a 2yo cutie looking a lot like a small siberian (no i don't think she's a spy!)

According to the locals her previous owners moved away some time ago and abandoned her, she was famished and I saw some old asshole kicking her because he didn't want it around his house.
So I fed the poor beast (so hungry she ate like a vortex) and now she's all over me.

I need to find her a name...

Rushing to the movie theater 15 minutes late, afraid I missed the start of the film. Running for my auditorium.

I'm met by the sound of a heartfelt monologue accompanied by exaggerated "Whoosh" sounds. I'm not too late!
Two working class dudes, one black one white, just baked a tray of ten cookies together.

An oligarch walks in and grabs nine cookies for himself.

Then he says to the white dude "Watch out for that black dude, he wants a piece of your cookie!"

Clicking on an M-rated game in the Steam store and getting greeted with the "Enter Your Birth Date to Continue" screen. About to confirm with a fake birth date, when I realize something: sure enough, when I enter my legit birth date, it still lets me continue to the game page. I'm now officially old enough to play M-rated games. 8) 8) 8) 8)

And I can also watch R-rated films in theaters by myself :D

Saw a little old dog fly off a couch at a huge 1 year old dog. Have fun now, that big dog is gonna straight up swallow you in a year...

Oh yeah, and there was the mystery of "how did the dog git the chicken leg?" Well, she just stood on the countertop, duh.
