Ofcourse there's a bunch of improvements which will be done in time, but it's finally in place in my living room:

I like it! Although I prefer consoles to be visible. Does make cable management easier I suppose.

yeah on my old tvbench I used to have sooo many cables everywhere... I'm actually scared it'll turn into same mess again
The reason I built a new tv bench was actually to get rid of all the cables lying around on the floor.

My thoughts:
1. Very cool how did you make it? Do you have a background in construction? How long did it take you? How'd you get this lettering to be so perfectly scaled?
2. The part that bothers me is when you open the lid to expose the consoles, it blocks the tv. I'd want to see the consoles and the tv at the same time, but that's me.
3. My third remark has nothing to do with you. It's 8bitdo and how they need to make a 1 for 1 NES wireless controller. Not this NES/snes controller you have.

Re: My tv bench is finally pretty much complete-o
1. I have a friend, a father and a brother who were very helpful. I came up with the idea to make a NES tv bench and just started making it, not really having a proper plan on how it would work
No I haven't really ever made anything before, I'm just a programmer. It took me around 50 hours total or so, or around a month and a half. The lettering is poorly scaled, and if you compare with an actual nes you'll see it's bad
Well the power and reset buttons are okay, but the Nintendo ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM text is waaay too wide. I just printed it out on my print and scaled it in GIMP until I was satisfied, then I cut out the letters with a scalpel.
2. It does indeed block the tv, one solution would be to build some kind of mount for the TV So it can swing above the lid, whenever the lid is open. Maybe there exists such tv-holders already?! The controllers for NES, SNES, GAMECUBE and Wii U can all be wireless these days with bluetooth, so the lid can be closed whilst playing these consoles. The N64 however is a bit more problematic as 8bitdo still haven't released the actual reciever for it. I know there exists some wireless for it, but it's supposed to be crap.
This would be a quite costly solution I guess: http://www.elektrisch-gordijn.nl/flatmo ... -lift.html
3. I actually prefer the SNES-grip (Y and B) rather than the original NES-grip (B and A) so for me this controller is perfect. But yeah, I agree with you.

Completely OTT and ridiculous, but yeah, I like it as well. Good work!
