I haven't played the game (though the impressions I've heard make me wish I had), but I've heard the term "bubble shot" thrown around...maybe that's the one you're looking for?

Yeah, I would call it the bubble shot, but the manual seems to want to call it something else. What I'm not sure. Soap bullet/shot? Seriously.

The bubble shot is "Shabon Tama" (assuming the kanji doesn't assume a weird pronounciation given its placement).

The item % is for the different image icons left by ground targets. I'm pretty sure.

Yeah, the mid-boss for stage 3... I just dont get what I'm doing wrong.

A for what it's worth, the name of the bubble shot is a stuuupid pun. It's pronounced the same as "soap bubbles" but the change in kanji make it in to something like "soap bullets". シャボン玉 to シャボン弾
