Just start a chat, thats what I did. He started his price quite high at $30+ I think.. But I got him down on the 2 movies I ordered. So haggle with him. Once done ask him for a paypal invoice and click the necessary buttons.

Conan The Barbarian (2011)
Didn't like it much, the 1982 one with Arnie was more entertaining, for the lack of a better word.

Sleeper (1973): **

I honestly found this film extremely boring. I only watched it because my dad made me.

Independence Day: Resurgence: **

Big, dumb and loud, with a plot that was utter nonsense and which relied on plothole after plothole, as well as the aliens doing one incredibly stupid thing that made them vulnerable for purposes of plot. Naturally, Hollywood is probably set to make three more of the things.

(Note: After writing that I looked it up, and the current suggestion is that the follow-up may end up on TV instead of film.)

The intro from Mulholland Dr never gets out of my head. Sometimes I play the riff on the clarinet, but its not the same thing without the drums. Actually, reminds me a little of Benny Goodman's Sing Sing Sing. Theres a video on youtube with this song with people doing the same dance in the movie, the jitterbug (also the name of the song by Angelo Badalamenti)

The Revenant (2015)
I liked the raw, straightforward quality of the movie. Did Leo deserve the Oscar for this movie? Not in my opinion.

Phenomena (1985)

Enjoyed this more than I expected, it's certainly bizarre and cheesy but it's got more than enough qualities to make it a fun ride, the metal and prog soundtrack owns (main theme is like the best rpg final boss battle music ever), young Jennifer Connelly is too cute and...
Spoiler
that chimp is a total badass ! incredible animal actor job they did here.
Also I liked the gore, dat gruesome death pool sequence... yum!
Tenebrae (1982)

Loved it ! Really I'm happy to still have good suprises like that on my missed-oldies list.
Definitely in another league than Tenebrae, bloody good filming and aesthetics, simple yet effective slasher plot with roman-photo characters and yet another awesome theme by Goblin firmly tying the atmosphere.
Spoiler
that long traveling sequence with the full theme song played until the two lesbos are killed is one of the best things I've seen on film ever.
who knew filming windows, a wall, tiles, and a staircase with a badass italo/prog song could make you feel something so awesome ?
It's funny that D.Argento is almost always mentioned for his collaborative work on Dawn of the Dead when it's fucking nothing compared to his real personal works.

Next: Suspiria, Deep Red and some more if I still feel the vibe.

Drunken Master III
Not a bad movie by any means, but compared to the first 2, this one falls well short. Gordon Liu is the general and villain this time around and Andy Lau is in a fair bit of the movie as well, even if he's credited as a guest star. Fights are well done, but the plot could be better at times. Really wonky soundtrack though. At times it just says, I'm a low budget sequel with its music.

Good stuff! Have you seen Inland Empire? It might be his most difficult to watch, one of my favorites though (do not google image search it, major spoilers). +3 hours of basically going mental, not just the characters in the movie, but the viewer as well.

Van Damme challenged Steven Seagal to a fight after Seagal talked shit, to which the Steven responded by running away and avoiding JCVD for the entire night. Of course Steven has a different perspective. Speaking of perspective, Steven is capable of laying out the zen truths of the universe in 30 seconds or less, as well.

At least all these ordeals didn't get in the way of Seagal's masterpiece reggae single.

Clash of Titans (1981)
The story was confusing as hell, but the best thing about this movie is the Ray Harryhausen stop-motion animation anyway. The remake is a CG crapfest, from what i heard.

Watched on Youtube the whole 15 minutes of scenes of Godzilla (2014) that matter, that is, the scenes where you see the fucking kaiju. Which still sucked, since it's CG in foggy and dark brown surroundings.
When is the Shin Godzilla Blu-ray out? The trailer is awesome, you can tell Anno is directing with that whole Evangelion vibe.

I would have to say not for a while. It just left theaters here in the US this past weekend. I will for sure pick it up once home media releases are out. A friend saw it and said it was really well done.

Just rewatched "Dances With Wolves" for the first time in what has to be at least 20 years, perhaps a lot more. I remembered liking it at the time, and I still do. For folks that don't like Kevin Costner no matter what he does, this movie will drive them crazy, but I think the movie is pretty well done. For the record: I tend to like Kevin Costner's library far more than dislike it, but there's no doubt: he has crapped the bed on multiple occasions in the past. This movie would not be an example of that, however.

The Legend of Tarzan (2016): **

A rather pedestrian movie given the source material. Generic "Imperialst oppressors want to build empires and oppress" plot with a forgettable villain, rather average CGI and a Tarzan that actually seems like kind of a wimp all things considered. About the only interesting part of it is Samuel L. Jackson playing basically every Samuel L. Jackson character ever, but spending the whole movie looking like he seriously wants to drop about 50 F-bombs into a single sentence but some censor is standing behind him with a tazer if he does. I'm pretty sure my mind was mentally inserting the missing cussing while I was watching.

Doctor Strange. 4/5

It had a bit too much talking, Tilda Swinton in particular, but Cumberbatch looked the part and it looks really great on the screen.

REC (2007)
REC 2 (2009)

Decent spanish horror movies. I don't the like the "found footage" style in other movies but in both of these they worked for me.

Day of the Dead

Amazing zombie and gore effects but I was really disappointed by the plot. The previous two seemed to be populated by actual human beings, warts and all, but this one had the most cartoonishly drawn division between the good guys and bad guys. Hey, I'm not sure the audience thinks the psychotic murderous captain is a bad guy, better have him say some racist things, too!
Two working class dudes, one black one white, just baked a tray of ten cookies together.

Then he says to the white dude "Watch out for that black dude, he wants a piece of your cookie!"

I think by that point Romero's "ha ha ha, these zombie movies have SOCIAL MESSAGES" bug was starting to get the better of him. Still a respectable end to the trilogy (to say nothing of the lame later Romero movies... though some people really like Land of the Dead?).

I saw Judex last night, by Georges Franju. Franju made one of the most lyrical and creepy horror movies around in Eyes without a Face, so I have been long wanting to see some of his other work.

The one scene everyone talks about is an early scene at a masquerade ball, with the iconic image of the bird-headed titular character who tries to make good on his threat of an evil banker's life:

Image

^Also note in the scene above the expertly haunting musical score. Wow!

It was easily my favorite scene in the movie, but there were so many others. The movie is often described as "dreamlike," and many scenes fit the bill. A lot of things happen that are removed from reality: the heroine knocked out and thrown over a bridge, only to serenely float downriver; a trio of black-clad men scaling what seems like an impossible stone wall; attack dogs surrounding their unconscious owner instead of chasing after the crooks, and more. It's all very... surreal. Very French. The film is at times eerie and other times slick.

However, since this was recreated from an early-20th-century serial series, the pacing sometimes zips along or slows down, and you can certainly tell how certain moments and scenes would have been their own "episodes" that only haltingly fit together. This again adds to the "anything can happen" atmosphere, but it can make things feel stretched or disjointed. However, at less than 100 minutes, it is short enough to be taken and enjoyed, especially for the gorgeous imagery and black-and-white cinematography.

Dr Strange - 4/5

Nice special effects. Its a good movie that concentrates on the training of getting super powers.

Dark Crystal - 3.5/5

Bought the UK steelbook and had it a while. Never seen the movie before. Its weird. The whole movie is made with puppets and costumes in such a way I don't think i've ever seen anything like it.

The voices - 4/5
