Re: Would DDP Daifukkatsu be a better game without autobomb
dfk without autobomb would still be bad because it would still be fundamentally dfk

RIP TEAM FORKS AND MY AMAZING 18TH PLACE SHMUP PLACING, BUT I'M LEAVING THE SIG IMAGE ANYWAY

Nah, DFK is a decent game. Yeah, it's the worst in the DoDonPachi series (except for Bee Storm but who cares about Bee Storm?), but it's still a decent game imo. And it's one of the easiest to get into for beginners so it makes sense that it was the first game released on Steam.dinosaurjerk wrote:dfk without autobomb would still be bad because it would still be fundamentally dfk

it already happened https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0WWlk1EB25QDespatche wrote:We need research into no-hyper, I wanna see how far this goes.
some parts are just unchainable without it, also the score would be of course abysmal
the way hypers were designed in this game is not for survival purposes, try playing power mode in ura loop with max hyper rank, you'll get destroyed from the insane amounts of danger lasers and revenge bullets
my very first credit into this game back in 2010 when i had no idea how the hell scoring worked i got to 2-5 omote with my eyes closed; all thanks to the autobombsDespatche wrote:you think autobomb breaks the game because it makes ADHD resource spam first clears easier.
to further add that it wasnt merit for the hypers; i was playing c-strong, and c-type ship is known for having the worst bullet canceling strength; so i gotta agree with Cagar about dem autobombs
if this game was so problematic when even the japanese players wouldnt take it seriously, yet we're still getting new WRs almost every month for how deep and varied this game is

That is a pretty valid point. The autobombing in DDP Daifukkatsu makes it feel a bit like a 5 level caravan mode. A player of my skill level and commitment certainly shouldn't be getting to level 4 or 5 after an hour or so of play.

You can always set the lives to 1 and treat the hypers as bombsdavyK wrote:Squire Grooktook wrote:I haven't played, but it sounds like the balance of survival tension is off.

Re: Would DDP Daifukkatsu be a better game without autobomb
Yeah...but you shouldn't have to do that. Invalidates your high scores too.
Re: Would DDP Daifukkatsu be a better game without autobomb
You can't really play for high score until you can avoid getting hit anyway
Re: Would DDP Daifukkatsu be a better game without autobomb
You can play for high scores as long as the game records your score. Paying attention to and trying to improve your score is not something that only comes after you can NMNB the game.
Re: Would DDP Daifukkatsu be a better game without autobomb
Yep. High scores are still a good way of tracking progress and skill within early levels even when you can't 1CC a game.
I actually really like the way the 360 port of DDP:Res lets you display and track individual level and area high scores as you play.
I liked that feature in XII Stag too.

Re: Would DDP Daifukkatsu be a better game without autobomb
You could do that in Mushi, haven't checked if you can in DFK.
Edit: You can, it's in the general screen menu

Re: Would DDP Daifukkatsu be a better game without autobomb
I don't personally like autobomb. I liked the sense of danger, that a run can be ruined at any moment if I don't concentrate. Something about DOJ that just made it super special.
